I set my Kestral ship up with varios bits one of which sapped energy from other ships. In my ignorace I thought Ill try it out in my local area on my sons ship, unfortanatly the police took issue and my ship has gone lol.
Was my mistake using this energy drainer in my own area or would I have been destroyed anywhere I tried to use it. Once the police open fire I could not warp anywhere.
Advise please.

Anything that you activate to effects another persons ships is considered a HOSTILE ACT.
If you want to play around that way head out to low sec space, the lower the better.

0.4 or lower and you'll get no police response.

I also believe that if you form a gang, all hostile actions are "pardoned" (I know it works with missiles, both direct hits and splash damage), and you take no security hit at all.

If you want to test out weapons you can do it in safe space- but you need to test on corp members- the police ignore corp on corp violence.

Noone said anything about not being able to use your weapons. Just be aware of the consequences of doing so.

cargo scanners dont bother the police none. but they sure bother the recipient! baahaaaaa.
