Gencon has started and it's going well, the EVE CCG is very popular. This is the first blog about gencon, we will see more during the next few days. You can read it all right here.
Oh, and why am I not surprised this trip includes drinks, beer and pool parties?

Looing good for the launch guys. Well done to all involved, looks like t could be a winner with the CCG community.
I'm gutted I cant be there to try for the prizes, signed artwork would be awesome. Good luck to the players. Though I would like to see a report on that too, strategies used etc. Could make for good reading. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

I got home last night from my trip to GenCon. I didn't take any pics but i gotta say the EVE CCG is a top notch game. The dev's did a great job with the game and the event. I came in around 30th place and won $50, half a box of boosters and a framed foil Tempest card. CCP has to be one of the greatest game developers of all time. I highly recommend the CCG to anyone that plays EVE. What a blast. Thanks ;)

I have no idea where suggestions might be posted, so am doing it here, probably in error.
The suggestion: It's the simple things that make EVE sing. I know I can get an "Amen" from everyone in my corp when I say - install a search feature in player escrow missions? It hurts my eyes to spend so much time sifting through scams, junk prices, and garbage I have zero interest in to find the 1-2 things that interest me. This would really be welcomed.
Thanks for your consideration.

Fantastic con! The tournament was great (wish I had done better) and the guys there were a fun bunch to be around. Got my first stab at the game at the booth then got the trial by fire in the tourney. Never did meet Kieron (I think he was always talking with someone else) but it was great to be able to shake a few of your hands.
Have lots of pics that I hope to get up soon. Booth was awesome and definately stood out. That's saying something for GenCon btw, the game companies pull out the stops for it every year so for them to be envying it means next year watch out!
A humorous con fact: in every GenCon swag bag there was a booster pack of EVE CCG cards. I know that people were constantly going back to that well (including me), some on the order of 20+ times! Saddly no realy good cards (never saw a single BS in the bunch) but it sure did make for an interesting tourney. Minmatar deck FTW!
Hope to see you all there next year and I promise I'll make it to the after hours party unlike this year (I was very bummed I couldn't ).

I think CCP did an amazing job promoting the game. The demo booth was constantly full, and they reduced the minimum deck size to 40 cards for the tourney so you could play with a unmodified precon. I also came in around 30th, I think the top 38 got 12 boosters, $50, and a foil of choice. All of the battleships were gone by the time I finished my game, so I grabbed a Black Market.
Apparently in the top 8, 7 of the decks were Minmatar and the other was Caldari. Its possible that Minmatar decks simply perform better with the commons and uncommons that were available, while the other races rely on rares that wouldn't have been readily available. My first loss was against one of these Minmatar rush decks, my deck just couldn't compete. Basically they ran up to 4 of each of the following: Breacher, Probe, Slasher, Rifter, Adaster's Disaster, Thrasher, Remnant of Vak'atioth, Mind Control, Bloodshed, Insurance Fraud, and others. With a good choice of locations 6-8 isk/turn by maybe turn 4 is plenty to dish out enough direct damage to keep your opponent constantly on the defensive.
A well timed Insurance Fraud (News, ISK Cost:2, Duration:2, Gain 1 ISK for every damage dealt) will generate absurd amounts of ISK. It makes any damage card (namely Adaster's Disaster) effectively free if you have a bank with 3 or more (costs 3 but you gain 3). Attacking even with heavy losses will leave you with enough isk to play more ships the next turn, and there's a minmatar tower that allows you to return all ships owned by you that went to the scrapheap that turn to return to your hand by upgrading the tower.

I was running a minmatar deck as well but i had 2 typhoons, 2 ruptures and 2 cyclones in it as well. I had herbedgite, scordite, veldspar, bloodmoons and tourist resorts for locations. Scordite and Bloodmoons are a nice location combination. For 2 isk when bloodmoons goes to the scrapheap you can bring it right back into play. With a couple cheap frigates mining scordite its easy. In one game (i think the first round) i actually had 2 mining 2 frigates and one scordite by the 3rd round and was making 16 isk. Theres some pretty mean cards in the game. There were some decks that barely had any ships.
I never once played an outer region. Its just too easy with Minmatar decks to build up a frig fleet and attack. It's so fast that you really don't need much else in the deck.

Yes, you posted this in error, and you should read the dev blogs more, since it was posted in that one that the new Contract system will be sortable and filterable. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | CCG Card Lookup |

I hope that is not a prelude to how fast the game will be though. It sucks when the game degerates into who can get out the most stuff faster than the opponent.
That said.. Noooooooooooooo! I should have went to GenCon this year! Maybe next year they will showcase both the CCG and the MMORPG as well.

CCP certainly had the most impressive looking booth, but I just wanted to get to the bar they had on top of it. Unfortunately I had a full schedule, so I didnÆt have time to try and schmooze my way up there. Though IÆm not a card game kind of guy, I have to admit that the cards were high quality and intriguing. Good job, just share the liquor next time.

I have a minmatar pre-made (I have them all actually ). That deck you just described had some booster pack power.

Ahh. I missed this while it was going up, but it reminds me so much of my memories of rolling out new products at Gencon (UK) half a decade ago. The convention zombies (I remember at least one woman I know going into the card gamer's section armed with deodorant and a gas mask... (they did'nt get the hint)), sleep dep, the pre-planning, running demos.
Good memories returned, reading that blog. almost makes me want to do it over again, if I did'nt remember the pain it caused.
i'm pretty amazed that you're the first to have a two-floor stand and bar, though.
sounds like eve's gencon cherry is well and truly popped, though. When will you be demoing it in the UK, I wonder?
