I go out of town for a couple weeks on vacation and come back to find my accounts have expired. I contact CCP and they tell me that I have to contact PayByCash to figure out what the problem is. After two frustrating days of trying to get responses from both CCP and PayByCash, the truth was told to me by PayByCash:
"Eve upgraded their intergration with us, and older Eve recurring billings no longer function as of a week or so ago."
Why weren't the accounts that pay by PayByCash informed of this ahead of time? CCP has our email addresses. How hard could it be to send out emails telling everyone that they needed to setup their PayByCash payments again. When I looked at the Eve-Online My Account/Subscription page, it showed that I was still setup to pay with PayByCash.

There's talk about no PayBySucks-option for months - after months of problems with lost payments, double bookings by PBC, no customer service available at PBC, yadda, yadda, yadda ...
The truth is that PBC pretty often didn't do what they take pretty nice fees for. A friend had payments for 6 month on 12 accounts disappear on the way from his bank account to ccp. It took about 2.5 months until he got his money back. And there was no problem on ccp's side - and he wasn't alone with his problem. --*=*=*--

I've changed my ATM card to a Visa Debit card and have fired PayByCash as of yesterday. This won't be a problem in the future.

Pay by cash has a VERY high level of questionable reliablity that its almost entirely understandable why other subscription games out there don't use them.
I would completely understand if CCP where to withdraw any payments options via them. --------------

That works pretty good. I use my normal Visa that way too. 0Euro limit - and if I want to use it for any payment, I put money onto it.
It is cheaper than PBC and PayPal too. And If I need someone to talk to about some transaction or I plan for a holiday, I just call my bankhouse.
ETC are even cheaper though - even when I use sinclair-software.de with taxes included. --*=*=*--

The least that CCP could have done is told me that they have had problems recently with PayByCash. No matter what questions I asked, I kept getting the same canned response of "You'll have to contact PayByCash customer support. Once we have received your payment, we will enable your account. This may take up to 4 days".

I had a few problems making payments via pay-by-cash a while back, I have now started using shatteredcrystal.com to buy gametime codes. They may ned to verify your first order from them, which just involves a quick phone call, but after that, the code is with you within a few minutes. I'd recommend them.

hey hey
I remember when CCP removed GTC's and i couldnt play for a month.
if security was an issue then Id give CCP my 100% backing to rempve any payment forms.
I pay by Direct Debit and cant figure out ow much it costs per month due to the exchange rate etc. . .
direct Debit has also changed and im now being billled in foreign and not sterling so i get an overseas transaction everytime i pay and pay an extra charge for this. each month is a different ammount and even my 2 accounts dont match in payment.
Having your accounts expire is bad but im sure they changed the payment option for a genuine reason.

You arn't really paying by Direct Debit. Thats a whole different payment system which is UK Only.
You are however paying directly from your bank account (Meaning that once CCP asks the bank for the money, its gone from your account, weather you have it or not and does not have the nice "cancel" feature that direct debit does, ccp can still claim money from your account even if you tell your bank not to allow it - danger of debit cards.)
You want to cancel something you have to speak to the merchant handling it and not the bank. (thankyou ccp for making it so easy by the way) IF you cannot contact the merchant you need to then talk to your bank who then talks to the merchant and if they can't reach them you have to fill in a form saying you wish to cancel the account which is then sent to the merchant who if they don't reply to that.
Then the bank places your payments into a "holding" account, essentially meaning that you are still losing money but if the merchant then does not respond to the letter in writing then the transfere can be cancelled and then you recieve the money from the holding account. If the merchant has a legitmate reason for continuing to take the money (DESPITE you saying you do not wish to pay them anymore) then they recieve all that money in the hold account.
And then you are back to square one and unable to claim any money back.
Now if you were on a credit card then you could say to the company "I have an unauthorised money transfere from my card can you stop it for me please?" and it wouldn't be an issue since its only credited money.
Moral of the lesson? Use Credit cards for online transactions.

Direct Debit/Standing order generally same difference
Internet payment have yet to be classified and although im paying in the uk but over the web the location of the merchant has changed and im now being charged extra.
I realy hate technical details but im FULLY aware of them :) paying by card transaction wether they clasify it as DD or SO or even the crap that my bank say it is. I am fuly protected should i have any issues with payments etc.
i dont do pay by cash as i felt it not the best decision for me.
back to the OP if CCP have justifications that pay by cash has issues then trust that it was in the best interests that they changed it.

Thats not quite true I don't have an overdraft on my account so if CCP were to try and take money from my debit card and I didn't have it they won't be able to.

Your bank still has a responiblity to hand over that money. As a result they may charge you silly amounts of interest for doing so?
I know I have an overdraft on my account but do not get charged for going into it unless I go over my limit. --------------

No they don't. They can refuse to authorise a payment (credit, debit card, DD or SO) if your account doesn't have the funds to cover it. If the payment is authorised, the bank have agreed to pay it, and they will pay it unless you cancel it with good reason. That doesn't mean the account can't still go overdrawn.
If your account goes over its overdraft limit, or it goes overdrawn when you don't have an overdraft, most banks will charge you fees and interest.
