Hi guys,
Well i am new to EVE ONLINE, just starting. Am currently playing EQ2 and played EQ for over 5years. Time for a change of game style.
My main want is a guild i can play on in my time zone. I am Aussie and want a guild with Aussies in it or worst case a guild in my time zone. Australian EST. +10GMT i think that is. So Melbourne based. I play after working hours regular and every other chance i get i am playing.
Second what is a good noob path to take and what race and attributes would match the path i may start with to get a feel for EVE??
Not sure what type of player i will be until i try it so any help would be much appreciated in choices and paths.
Cheers guys.

You could ask for a aussie CORP(!) in the recruitment forum. There might not be many who'll take in newbies, but just keep trying and I'm sure something will pop up ;o .. Some corps have members online all the time, so you don't have to actually be in a aussie corp to have ppl online when you are. Get balanced attributes, with cha being slightly lower than the rest. IMO, the "order" is [perc ~= int > mem > wp > cha] for a combat char. An industrialist might want higher mem and lower perc. Path really depends what you wanna do (get mining skills if you wanna mine, fighting skills if you wanna fight etc).
Race matters little aside from the attributes they start with.

Thanks for the heads up Ras.
Yeah experienced guilds most likely won't take me on but maybe they can help me get up there and when i become a bit more savvy with EVE i am sure there will be a guild out there for me.

Welcome to eve.
I dont know the guild suitu in EQ, but guilds I guess are like corps. Regardless a good place to look is the eve recruitment forums on this website. A good place to join is eve university, which is there to teach you the ropes.
As for what path.. well its really up to you. I would recomend getting your race frigate to 4 and your spaceship command skill to 3 or 4 first. Then go hunting around for rats and stuff. Or try mining for a bit. The scariness of eve is that you literally can do anything you want.
I would reccomend you complete the agent storyline in the that the agent whose address is given you by the tutorial agent. Even if you never do another mission, the isk you wil get will be very handy, and you will get a nice implant you can use or sell for a good bit of isk.
2 skills you should max are engineering and electronics. Other than that dont take any skill to 5 till you know what you want and what you are doing. Getting a good broad skill mix is a very good idea in your first few weeks. Eventually you will natrurally start specilising in stuff. Dont worry about cruisers for now. Learn to fly a frig well. The lessons you will learn will be valuable when you start fling other ships.

Welcome to Eve, my friend. First off, I would suggest trying out a few missions. If you don't fancy that, try some mining. Once you get a feel for the game and find a corporation you like, look for something you want to accomplish in a month or two. What type of ship do you want to pilot in 1/2 a year? Focus your skills on the requirements of those ships. Make sure to always be researching something at all times (skill-wise). If you have any questions, ask in the local channel. People will always be willing to help you.

Thanks guys for info, very much a great help here.
Is so good to be able to bounce things off people and get different points of view so i can use all or bits from each of you.
Cheers

yup, to each his own, personally I'm a teamplayer, going solo just doesn't feel right to me. I didn't start playing online MMO's to go solo, otherwise I'd play Morrowind still. But as said, to each his own.
Remember though that EVE is a few tads more harsh than EQ and in here vigilance and a proper dose of paranoia is what's needed to stay afloat.
Looking for a corp? INCH caters for newer and the somewhat more relaxed, mature player, check |

You can open the 'channels & mailing lists' window in game and join the "anzac" channel. All NZ'ders and aussies in there, and the welcome message has 3 relevant corps info.
