I always thought the game would be better with nothing bigger than a BS.
But then CCP needs to give them something to train for, so this is where we are:
Big Blue Doughnut of carebears scared to lose there big ships they trained for. |

A lot of the coolest ships are Frigates, wider variety, there is only two T1 destroyers for each faction I think. To get in a Battleship you need Spaceship Command 4 and Battle cruiser 3 before you can train Battleship 1.
I figure I will have a fair idea what a bigger ship is like by that time. Always remember that mining is a big fat yorkie eating working mans environment. Not for Girls As for Distribution |

Something is wrong when You got to pay for something that is virtual and not real and you will never own especially if its going cost you more in the long run than a down payment on real World House or a Car. If CCP Wants More than 50000 playing a day and make it worth while to train skills and buy bling bling ships, attract more casual and New players and make 1 Billion in Revenue Like League Of Legends they got to change there business model. |

To the OP, There isn't a yes or no answer, due each ship has different play styles and counters. Yes numbers can win however strategy, character skill level, fittings, experience, etc are all variables which most players do not take into account. Frigates can kill Battleships, however what is the role of a battleship? A battleship can kill frigates if it is fitted and its purpose is that. So its how you want to play the game and what style, fits you best when dealing with multiple variables in the game. |

Bigger the ship the bigger the kill mail when you lose it, so long as you are ready for that you'll be fine. Always remember that mining is a big fat yorkie eating working mans environment. Not for Girls As for Distribution |

Kiryen O'Bannon wrote:Lady Areola Fappington wrote:Part of the problem for newbies is mentality coming from other MMOG style games. They're expecting to see a "gear progression", in that as you level up, you get progressively better gear that obsoletes any of the old stuff you get. Along those same lines, anyone who's "leveled up" can ROTFLstomp a lower level person, PVP wise.
They tend to see the frig->dessy->cruiser->BC->BS progression as Eve's idea of "levels", and expect the same behaviour out of the ships that they'd get from say, leveling a warrior to 50 and getting a pwnsauce lvl50 sword.
Eve isn't like that. Each ship type has roughly defined roles, and all of those roles are useful, in one way or another, to overall PVP. To be fair, the level I-II-III-IV-(V) mission progression tends to reinforce this idea. Burner missions may help break up this impression in the future, though.
Kinda-sorta. I used to feel that way, too, with the "bigger is better for Level 4s..." Then I joined a corp that planned on going into WHs, so I started training up Tech II cruisers (unfortunately, RL stuff among the leadership kept us from doing the WH stuff), and I found out that except for the smaller tank, an Ishtar is just as good, if not better, for most Level 4s than a Domi. (Mainly because it has the same basic damage profile while having a faster lock time and a faster speed, which helps in the multi-room missions were the gates are 50-60 km away). |

I'd just like to point out that a single Hyperion on a gate will wreck your **** with ease, and I watched a Raven take on 15 rifters on a gate the other week, he killed about 4 or 5 before they disengaged and ran away, they barely scratched him. It's not always as simple as 2 > 1, so don't make the mistake of believing that. |

Big boobs of light? I want big boobs of light.
@OP Pilot and fitting skill has a lot more to do with the outcome of such a fight than the size of the ships involved.

All ships have their place in the game but for newer players smaller ones tend to be better do to low so in core and fitting skills as well as being cheaper |
