This Pirate corp has been Pking in Sarum Prime for a while now. Not putting up a fair fight though, but camping at a jump in point and destroying a ship before the pilot even knows he's there. Well some friends and my own corp thought we'd give them a run for their money, tackling them head on as all dogfights should be. What happens ? They run and hide in dock and won't come out like the little cowards that they are !!!
Its fine for them to PK when the other ship has no defence, but a 1 on 1 fair fight, no thanks thats not in the Biomass rule book. 2003 Cobra Violation Shad (even Tank CEO)
All a bunch of cowards
Hehehehe

heheh fair point, but running as soon as you see a cruiser is a bit sad really. These guys go on a reputation of being a well oiled killing machine, load of rubbish. They just exploit the flaws in the program that make jump in points static and the delay between appearing in the system and the player acually having control of the ship

Edited by: Dark Elf on 10/10/2003 14:12:19 Or maybe as in earlier thread the problem is that the are killers. Killers by definition are not looking for a fair fight but just the thrill of annoying other real people.
If this was not the case then the PC pirate coprs would gain more satisfaction from fighting each other not killing players who have no way to defend themselves
Quote time
Tilting towards killers is more difficult, because this type of player is parasitic on the other three types. The emphasis on causing grief has to be sacrificed in favour of the thrill of the chase, and bolstered by the use of quick-thinking and skill to overcome adversity in clever (but violent) ways. In other words, this becomes an arcade ("shoot 'em up") type of game.

If pirates stuck around for "fair fights", instead of gaining less money per hour than a group mining operation in 0.5+ space, they would be actually losing money. |

It's funny how they went from M3G4, the losers of the pirating world, to biomass, a well-oiled killing machine just by changing their name... |

Killing machine?
I just saw Tank CEO post how caldari ships are to penalized by MDWs and cloacking devcies.
Next thing you know they will complain that docking is only fixing shields but not armor and structure.
Reality is they were and always will be carebears of pirates wannabes.
Thats why they keep trying to find exploit to keep them in safety of empire space.

PIE Inc also pushed Biomass out of Sarum for a bit yesterday - U can see the post on the Intergalactic Summit...
Anyway Tank CEO's response:

In respone to Pie's attempt to push us pirates out of Sarum Prime. Sure, they made us flee but lets see, only 2 battleships from our corp was online.... compared to your 5-7 battleships. Don't pat yourselves on the back to much, it makes you look stupid.
Actually we had 3 BS at that time and its kinda funny that 'Pirates' are moaning about being outnumbered when they spend all day ganking unsuspecting Indy pilots

its down to how much fun you have...
pkers chose to kill unsuspecting pilots who arnt ready for a fight - well, no great challenge there - my 3yr old son could do that!
i have though about being a pker myself but the though of it.. its just too easy and its the lamers ways to get respect. REAL respect is earnt when the pkers run from you! simpley because they know they are weak in a real fight! being a pker is just a sad way to get authority over players and the idea just bores me rotten.
the real challenge in the game which takes great skill is to capture and kill a player killer - any sign of threat and they run to their mummy's apron and that is what makes it a challenge :)
have fun everyone!

Prirates are not in the business of fair fights. From a role playing perspective they are behaving in char.
You may not like the tactics and until the JIPT is fixed this is what they do. If you want to shut there ops down then you have to harrass them into leaving. That means a large enough force 24/7 to keep them bottled up.
The real problem here is labeling anyone PK or carebear. By game design everyone in this game is a PK. You have to fight to hold you own, be it economical or political. The more restrictions that get put in the game the harder it gets to protect yourself. Priates do what they do. A fair fight is not part of there MO.

Edited by: Tsaya on 10/10/2003 17:49:13 May i first say, turtle, please get your vocabulary straight. The problem is not people shouting pk or carebear, the problem is people shouting it without knowing a damn thing about their meaning. You joined the crowd, grats on that ;).
About Biomass: Yep, really odd to hear someone call em well-oiled killing machines. No offense meant, you biomass guys, but M3G4 did get famous by screwing up and getting their asses handed to em, and not by great deeds. No wonder they flee as soon as they face a force only half their numbers ;). A lot of people said a lot of times those guys flee even if facing as many indies as they have combat ships. Hell, people used to make fun of tank ceo that he would run if an indi was escorted by 2 newb frigates. For Biomass: Im dont want to flame you , just quoting bits about your reputation ;), before some people get wrong ideas about your corp. You got a few decent members, you have come a long way, and hopefully learned a lot, but the old stories tell a lot nonetheless.
And running from superior numbers, or fair fights, is of course sensible, but it wont get you respect, simple as that. If all you care about in this game really is money, run. (remember, its a game, its meant to be about fun, not isk and exxagerated care for it)

it's too bad they didn't even try to take out one of the attacking battleships before leaving. instead they all ran, This is one of the reasons why I respect m0o so much. Of course with gates shut down, you have to make your decision now weather to stay or leave. I have to admit though, this is the first I've heard in a long time of a corp getting together and actually attacking gate campers. Nobody does it anymore even if some of the odds have been stacked against gate campers. ------------------

So what if they run and hide? Do you have to score kills to accomplish your goal? Chase them away, then camp the station, jump-in points, and gates to other systems.
Then viola! Sarum Prime is safe and they're stuck in station w/o the ability to score any kills.

Edited by: Turtle on 10/10/2003 21:18:30 Tsaya, there is a difference between you and I. I take people the way they are. You on the other hand belittle anyone who does not agree with your point of view.
As I said everyone in this game has the ability to PK. The whole game is PvP. Now if you are paying the role of a pirate what do you do. You pick on only the people you can take and avoid straight up fights at all cost. They is just no money in it.
What I'm tired of is people trying to make corps like this into something they are not. They a pirates and acting just like pirates.

Bout bloody time someone said it. It doesn't matter if you don't get to kill Zombie Inc. blockading the gate at Egbinger, for example. What matters is whether or not the train of industrials get through.

Sorry to burst your bubble but unless I have another Bship waiting for me I dont like going into a battle outnumbered 2 to 1 or more like you guys expect us to. 1v1 I've taken out many armed bships, but only an idiot would want to fight a battle he knows he would lose because of sheer numbers. I mean we could gamble that it takes 2 of your bships to be as effective as one of ours but why bother? we can just fight another day when the numbers are even or in our favor. Never claimed to be a hero, just a pirate... |

nothing wrong with being outgunned. When we get a fleet of 30 bships after our 5 bships it's a great feeling to know that 30 people took time out of their playing to try and come kill you. If every player that came into a .4 was ready to fight us, we wouldnt have to camp anything because they woudl come to us. But most people are carebears and dont want to fight, we kill them anyway. Sorry, pirating is part of the game, deal with it.... |

Just camp the Geminate region and blow their miners out of the matter, chasing them around Sarum when they're geared for it isn't right.

I dont have a problem with pirating, I do have a problem with idiots running away like ****ers and then smack talking in stations for 3 hours, like m3g4 were famous for. I know, I shared such exchanges on a few occasions in the past.
All this "pirates fight on their terms" *******s is irrelevant really. A small group of chimpanzees can gate camp in 5 scorps and rake up hundreds of pk's without being touched... thats easy. Theres no skill in that at all. I'd like to see pirates actually having a go back, taking people on a bit, stretching themselves, risking it. But thats all pie in the sky cos it will never happen.
Thats why i have no respect for biomass or SI or any other M0o wannabee gate campers - not because of what they do, but how they go about it. Its has no finesse at all. But then, you play the game how you want to, thats the joy of multiplayer games I suppose. Maybe im too idealistic, but I like opponents to have the balls to hit back at me, to fight me, not run off like girls and insult me from a station.
Thats partly the reason why I don't hunt pirates anymore really. At least corps get mad and fight back. -------------------------------------------- Dead

Ditto.
Most pirates corps. are happy enough feeling good about spanking indies or cruisers but they rarely fight 1-on-1 with any other force on equal terms.
The common retort is to quote economic reasons for not battling battleships blah blah blah.
Time they grew a pair and put their ammo where their mouth is.

The whinge was from Tank CEO who complained we outnumbered them when we turned up to break their blockade... which as I highlighted is just a tincy bit ironic!
