Heads would butt,alot..it can work perfectly but its a very low changhe..progress would be very slow in even emergencies, and itd be quite easy to bypass authority.
I think democracy spawns total chaos within any govnerment and as such should be avoided,in theory its very effective,in reality it is far from it.

Democracy is the only government that does not arbitrarily impose authority on it's people. Any other form of government assumes one person or group is de facto capable and willing to run a nation towards it's betterment, which is by default false, as any human will naturally gravitate towards self interest and not the common good, even assuming such a mythical substance can be identified or even exists. ________________

If no human is out for the common good then there must be a force ushering them to do so anyway, that will strengthen them as a whole and as such also get them personal gain,if they are not willing to strengthen the society as a whole, someone has to be there to make them.
Or maybe not,The federation will either rise to glory or shatter to pieces,it can not be in between.

The beauty of the Federation lie in the ideals behind the nation, but sadly the execution of these ideals have been rather suboptimal.
The double-edged sword of a media-driven society like the Federation is the fact that appearances are more important than any truth. Its corrupt bureaucracy and leadership are responsible for some of the most atrocious mistakes made in recent history, with even greater injustices committed in frantic attempts at cover-ups and creating scapegoats for failures resulting from Federal incompetence or paranoia.
How could anyone expect the shareholders of Coreli Corporation to hold onto their investments when it gradually dawned on them that the Gallente Federation was actively sabotaging not only Coreli, but also the very possibilities of its own development and progress. That said, it must be said that the leaders of the Federation have become damned good at scheming to keep themselves in power as time has progressed.
The Federation's stance on pharmaceutical research serves as a good example of how the senators have allowed the Federation to lag behind in technologic developments out of fear of the public opinion. If the Federation wants to prosper, indeed, to survive, it must rediscover the libertarian ideals that were the groundwork for its existance. -----

Thats an odd thing to say. Why would you weep for outstanding individuals? Individualism being somewhat counter to the interests of the state-first collectivism practised in the Caldari hegenomy. Surely the point of the Caldari State is to suppress individualism and ensure that everybody is keeping their heads down and working for the interests of corporate government and traditional notions of workplace commitment?
I think you're both wrong here.
The State isn't interested in suppressing individualism and encouraging blind corporate loyalty among Caldari. The individual corporations may be, but that does not mean that the State in general limits opportunity. Likewise, the Federation does not limit opportunity for its ciizens.
In both, truly outstanding individuals have the opportunity to make what they will of their lives, in ways that the classist Amarr and the superstitious Minmatar do not. Where you see differences are in what happens with the less successful of their citizens. The paths of opportunity are different in each society, but the results are the same.
And that's really where this whole cultural debate lies for me. How do each deal with those citizens who aren't interested (or capable) of making their own way.

That might actually be part of the failure,if it is that easy for a selfish man to come to power and steer the federation to ruin their govnerment has already failed, after all,it is easy to lie and win an election, and once that has been done,is there any stopping this man?

One could argue that the same skill it takes to come to power can be used to guide the Federation through the cluster's political minefield. Not to mention that no one man, even the President, has absolute power.
I think it is a bit silly to claim the Federation has failed or is failing, when it's average citizen has the best quality of life among all the empires and when people line up at it's borders to become part of it.
Let's not forget that the purpose of a government is to make it's people happy, not fulfil some abstract, megalomaniac destiny. ________________

Well, the federation has at the least chosen a very difficult path,to please so many and having so many peapole agree with each other is near impossible.

Nobody has to 'agree' with anyone else. That's the whole point. We just leave each other alone to grow as we see fit. ________________

The decisions are made by the people voted to power. They worry about the decisions and the citizens worry about voting them. Concensus is not necessary. ________________
