Why do some (crappy) Amarr ships get gimped with EM missile bonuses?
I really, really doubt the Amarr need MORE EM damage as it is.

ALL races get a specific damage type for missiles, and there never used to be anything wrong with EM damage.
Recently however the EANM II and DCU tank has become the norm , rendering EM virtually useless against armour.
This is the problem, not the EM itself.

Well, EM weapons ought to have a significant EMP effect on the target. What if EM weapons had a small chance of borking the target's electronics? Not a full ECM effect where you're jammed for 20 seconds, but just a chance to de-lock. That would answer two whines with one buff: the "Energy weapons suck" whine, and the "Amarr have too few mid slots" whine.

U casnt give EM a special effect to keep one race happy.

Yeah pretty much last thing needed is more EM.
Now if we got a second type of Crystals where Thermal Damage is the Primary damage and EM is the Secondary damage type we might be making some progress......

my idea for EM love: once shields reach 10% remaining, EM damage is completely passed through to armor. (so with laser crystals the thermal damage would still hit the shields, but the em goes straight through to armor)
once armor reaches 10% remaining, EM damage is completely passed through to structure.
This would make it possible for amarr ships to kill an enemy ship without fully breaking a sheild/armor tank.
It would give Amarr new life.
Possibly make the % higher or lower. |

I personally like the idea of the ability to 'overload' your lasers, say, double their damage for an amount of time, but, as a result, it has to be offlined and the crystal popped from the tension, so if you're about to go down in a geddon vs a mega, you can throw on your overload feature and hope for the best. Or some other penalty, maybe taking slight thermal damage on your ship from the heat? -----------
