Assuming devs check this thread occasionally it might be helpful to include system specs rather than just what year iMac for instance.
For reference, system recommended: i7 3 ghz, 8 gig of ram, 1gig vram nvidia 675mx or better. ATI x1600 and x1900 specifically unsupported (uncheck load station environment)
I can still run eve (although slowly at low settings) on a 2008 MacBook pro 2.5 dualcore with 4 gigs of ram and only 512mb VRAM nvidia something. Last I tested was 10.1 I think (just loaded the 10.2 beta, but haven't tested).
My real system which generally plays without issue is a late 2013 27" imac with 24gigs of ram 4gig Vram nvidia something (can look up if helpful) and and a 3.5ghz i7. This really should be overkill for Eve but it's what I work on also. I run this on all high settings except for antialiasing on medium to be able to see ship effects like reps and hardeners. For some reason they stopped displaying at high.
Sometimes the client seems to just freeze and requires a force quit - at which point an offline notification goes out. Usually I see it happen when I've been sitting in station doing something else for a while - like web browsing or really anything out of Eve. It has happened a few times while actively playing, but fortunately not at a time that's gotten me killed. It seems to pull ship out of space immediately which is rather interesting. It's happened both running full screen and windowed, so I'm not sure that's a contributing factor. Lately after recent patches it does seem more stable / reliable.
I don't run teamspeak on the same system after it caused some issues in the past either with Eve or another game - don't recall which, but it was the beta for version 3. Application wise I don't run anything weird or unusual that I can think of - the usual browser, mail, messages, and sometimes Final Cut Pro or Adobe something. None of them seem to clearly cause more or fewer issues during gameplay.
Are more people that are having issues using multiple displays? My second is tiny and hasn't had any noticeable impact. |
