I noticed that the eve executable runs using only 50% of my total CPU. This tells me that there could be some issue with HT. Has anyone noticed this? Is there a workaround besides disabling HT altogther?
Thanks.

50% is completely normal on a HT or dual core CPU. You'll see the same for practically every other game, as very few games today can take advantage multiple CPU's.
Just because it's says 50%, doesn't mean it's not using 100% of resources it can. The equivalent of one CPU core.
To the best of my knowledge,

50% CPU usage means its using an entire virtual core worth, which is the absolute maximum possible for a singlethreaded application.
There's nothing wrong with that.

Really? Damn I never knew! Thanks. The only reason I ask is I get intermittent pauses where it seems like CPU or RAM related but it has already caused me to get podded. I get a 1 second pause as my ship explodes to when I can actually warp out. Oh well. Maybe it is sound related from what I am reading, but playing without sound is like playing without video as far as I am concerned.
Thanks for the info.

Those pauses might be Windows switching EVE from one CPU to another. Try setting affinity of eve exefile to one CPU only and see if it helps. --

Im afraid it doesnt work I have even tried going with the sound off and for whatever reason every minute or so I get 1-3 second pause which is actually becoming an issue. Any more suggestions?

I have exactly the same issue. Happens during combat (lost a destroyer because of that), when docked, when mining ... Complete freezes of the screen although the game goes on. My rig: athlon-xp 1800+, geforce 3 ti 500, 1 gig ram, creative Live card. I'm running at 1024*768. |

Hello,
Sorry am At work and do not have all the notes but, I had this exact trouble for a long time. I fixed it by editin the one config file to display the advanced Graphics options, then I played with the Multisample settings. Umm I believe I turn Multisample on and use 2x setting. Sorry I don't have specifics. Take a look around I found that solution on these forums.

I can't seem to find the thread anymore, but I resolved this with MS KB896256 "Computers that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and that are equipped with multiple processors that support processor power management features may experience decreased performance "
It didn't totally seem to fix it, but it takes 6+ hours for it to show up again after installing this. The hotfix is not available for direct DL from microsoft but you can probably find it with a Google search. Make sure you scan for viruses before installing it though.
