I have notice that EMFi shares were selling for almost 19k per share and now they are down to 17k. Any ideas on why this would be? Did EMFi post less of a gain than expected, is the whole UEMA/EIB sludging the market, or is there something else.
I'm working on getting in to some stock trading but since the market here seems to be less predictable than RL (not that that is predictable).
I'm hoping that the falling prices are related to UEMA/EIB and as that fades away (LET IT DIE) the share prices will level off again.

1. It fell after the dividend because the stock price always goes up right before a dividend: people want the dividend, so they buy shares.
2. Since the dividend has passed, a lot of people who were planning to liquidate shares to get back ISK (unrelated to how well EMFI is doing) have put their shares on market.
3. It was never at 19k. It only got up to about 18.3k.

I could swear I saw it selling at 19.2k per share... Does EGSE have any historical markers for share value?

Think about it this way: if EMFI's stock value is primarily driven by the underlying value of its own stock holdings, with some modification of that value based on the perceived skill of the fund manager to create value investing your money going forward, then you could surmise that ...
1) The value of some of the underlying shares may have declined (you can go to the EMFI web page and see what is in there and come to your own conclusions) or
2) The skill of the manager as percieved by the market has declined (again, reah your own conclusions, this is just theory and I would rather not have Napthalia war-deccing me ...)

I know a few large shareholders have sold a significant ammount mostly by filling buyorders to free up isk to invest in AATP.
The drop in emfi shareprice (from 18k to 16k) was by selling a 300k block to the buyorders.
There used to be about 350k in buyorders between 13-17k and now a lot less.
These are normal market mechanics though (usually called a technical price correction), if a shareprice goes up to a certain level, even the most loyal stockholders will "take profit" and sell to market which will cause a normal drop in price till people start buying again. This can be illustrated by this graph. EMFi having 10mln shares on the public market can be subjected to this behaviour.
As to less gain then expected we performed 8% over target this month, which is a fine result

This theory works if the price for which EMFi trades on the exchange is directly related to the perceived value of the EMFi stock. Personally I think that of course these 2 could be effected. (There was a pricedrop during the SVE scandal caused both by the potential drop in asset value and the perceived mistake by the fundmanager).
I think in this case the slight pricedrop was because of 2 reasons:
1) supply and demand.
The Supply of "Naphtalia managed shares" went up with 7.5mln shares also these shares were offered at IPO price and not 70-90% over IPO price.
The Demand hasn't gone up a great deal overnight (people didn't suddenly mine 75bil isk)
2) Technical Correction
Partly caused by 1) people sold some stocks, the drop in the price signalled investors it was time to take profits to cause more selling. This went on till the price dropped below a comfort level or people started bying EMFi to counter the sellers.

It does, but it also means that plenty of share holders might get scared the price is dropping and off-load now.
Since the sell orders seem to be popping up faster than people are buying I will wait a little while to invest more isk in EMFi.

If that happens, it's DEFINITELY time to buy.
