Okay, I have never been escrow scammed, I am just TIRED of sifting through them! Can we PLEASE get GM's to start bannning people for doing this? Or at least add an ignore feature so we can ignore all escrows from people. That would be a VERY nice feature!

Well, you could just have your escrow set to see only things available to you, or what escrows you have set. That would elimate all other escrows. If I'm not mistaken.
And I do agree escrow scams are lame, to clarify I dont see how people actually fall for those scams.
All the evidence is right there in front of you in plain sight. You ALWAYS check the item and show info, simple way to avoid being scammed by all sellers. For those who see a Scorpion for 6.1m I wouldnt rush to buy it since it is highly unlikely you are the first person to see it. I really need a signature. |

Anyone who falls for it should be turned into dog food. Kali should fix itÖ I guess....

The point is, it sucks to have to sift through all those scam escrows that only single-cell organisms would fall for, just to view the legitimate escrows :(

Aint that the truth. Yes I understand the point. Thats one reason I rarely ever bother with escrow. I really need a signature. |

Sorting by price seems a fairly good way to quickly weed out all the scams. If you know what you're looking for, anything too cheap is a scam. --

Probably, yes.
It looks like they've got the code there for the contracts system. Kali is slated for September (so I expect it to be out late October). I'd rather we got Kali than wait for them to code and then introduce a buggy escrow filter patch.
Of course, the whole galaxy-wide/region-wide escrow change in Kali is another matter entirely.

Apart from the things that aren't on the market, of course.
Edit: Double post? Why not take advantage of your mistake and post about two different things?

allow the block player feature to extend to escrows as well so you can blcok the scammer and not see his or her name.

GM's could be empowered to globally flag escrow scammers for the duration of their escrow. Miss Trader for example would find herself getting podkilled whenever she undocked... until she figured it out.
A few others that are quite consistent with their escrow polution but i can't think of the names right now. |

I say they flag the main too so we can pod the ***** who got the materials to scam with... No, I have never fallen for one. Yes I support blocklists for escrow. Yes I think escrow scammers should be banned but, scamming is part of the game so thats not likly but they can give us something we can work with atleast such as flagging scammers and their mains or something...

I'm tired too to have my eyes to select between real escrows and stupid things made by stupid people. (in a scam the stupid one IS ALLWAYS the scammer, he doesnt play the rules because he's too dumb/lazy to make some isks following the gameplay, in all cases he is not an addition to EVE and should be removed)
An 'ignore' feature would be nice until Kali comes and removes these guys from EVE.
PS : If you know me with your main and scam with your alt, please remove my char from your addressbook

i think anybody who gets scammed should be banned for extreme gullibility and/or stupidity. but if you were scammed before the rule is implemented, you'll be ok

The exact opposite is true. Being scammed = griefing. By allowing yourself to be scammed, you're making it possible for the scammers to exist. Therefore those who are dumb enough to get scammed are griefing those of us intelligent enough to avoid those scams. Without the criminally stupid people, there woud be no scams.

Scam in game is much the same as spam in real life. If there were no stupid buyers, then the rest of us wouldn't have this problem. I hope the new contracts system can be set to auto block everyone who has scammed a certain amount of people.

The question is not about being scammed or not. My concern is that I simply hate to browse escrow because it's full of useless things (read scams).
Why scams work ? why a shuttle in escrow for 1 Bil isks has a chance to be claimed ?
The answer is in the Law of Large Numbers : [exerpt from wikipedia] : it refers to the principle that the probability of any possible event (even an unlikely one) occurring at least once in a series increases with the number of events in the series. For example, the odds that you will win the lottery are very low; however, the odds that someone will win the lottery are quite good, provided that a large enough number of people purchased lottery tickets.
That's what's hurting in escrow scams : the chance of successful scam is not linked with being smart or stupid or tired, it's just a mathematical, statistic based law which permits to break the gameplay. That's why scams should be considered like exploits, like mining bots because it's a 'I win' button
