I just got some free time that convinced me to resub(Thanks CCP), and after a career of either L4s or RvB, I think I'm going to expand beyond T1. I've always wanted to own a T3 cruiser, but I haven't played since before the big ship rebalance. From what I've read it seems like Tengu or Legion would be best. I've got most of my skill in Amarr real estate, with T2 tank/guns learned. For Caldari and Gallente, I've got BC skills at the most, but it wouldn't be too bad to focus on one of those.
So, which T3s are best for what these days? Particularly interested in WH, it's another thing I've always wanted to get into. |

Depends on what class of WH and if it's PvP or PvE. For C1-4 I'd say the Tengu is a really good choice, it can comfortably do all the combat sites (although you'll need to do RR fits and 2 Tengus for C4s). It's also a decent small gang PvP boat as well as for large armor fleets as an ECM boat. I'd say the Legion is a close second, also capable of doing PvE (not as well as the Tengu IMO) but it's stronger in PvP, can be neut heavy tackle, missile or lasers with a brick tank. Loki is more for higher class WHs for web support doing the anoms with Dreads and is a great support PvP ship as well. Finally the Proteus should also be able to handle lower class WHs and is the best cloaky hunting T3.
So they are all viable depending on what you want most. If I were you I'd go with the Tengu if you're more interested in PvE and Proteus if you're more interested in PvP. |

For station pew, an instalock legion would be smart.

The Legion. The Legion is always the best. I may allow you to take a Proteus for style, but every other T3 is just for scrubs. |

It all really depends on what you plan on doing really.
The proteus is really good as a stealthy solo killer, it also makes decent as a heavy tackler, it can also get a really heavy buffer tank around 300k EHP with midgrades. Which makes it great for suspect gaming.
The Loki is probably on of the BEST Heavy tacklers in the game, given it's web bonus.
The Tengu is the best PVE Boat hands down, as it can take most challenges by itself handily. It's also a decent PVP boat, and the 100mn kitting is a very nasty thing to deal with. You can make a decent railgu for insta-locking, 250mm guns with Jav is a lot of fun, A Hamgu gets some surprisingly good use. Also the Tengu is a top choice for Tinker fleets, if you ever manage to get into one of those.
However the a Cloaky Tengu is really bad, you don't really get to much DPS from it, 300ish maybe 400 if your lucky.
The legion is a great insta-locking ship, so if your planning on joining a station camping wardeccing alliance, I would use that. As for a the pulse and beam legions, I've personally never used them, but I'm told they are lackluster the HAM Legion is decent, and from word of mouth I would stay away from a neut legion.

Sounds like it'll either be Tengu or Legion...but it sounds like laser Legion isn't great? Between that and my current love affair with missiles, I might have to go Tengu. Fortunately, my skills are close enough that once I'm in one or the other, it shouldn't take too long to train the rest. PVE is higher-priority for me, so I think I'll go straight for Tengu and then train up to Proteus eventually if I get the PVP itch.
Thanks for the input! I'll always welcome more, since I've still got plenty of time before my general skills are trained up to V. |

Depending on how long ago it was since you last subbed, you might find WH have changed a bit. It's a lot more populated for starters. I used to day-trip into C3's with a Legion (Riot Rick's fit). It was risky but the population was a lot lower so chances of getting ganked were much less.

I've actually never done WH, and didn't know much about it before the changes |
