Faction warfare was one of the activities that I always wanted to give a shot but I have no clue how this all works.
The only thing I do know is that we Caldari a pretty screwd at the moment unless we had some success yesterday?
Now I am not a pvp noob anymore so my focus would be on the mechanics how plexing works or de-plexing?
Can someone catch me up?

24/7, 365 Eve-wide war-dec (so no gate/station guns anywhere - including hi-sec :) (but you still have the NPC Navy) ). Taking 'enemy' plexes drives up the contested level (closing friendly drives it down)...when vulnerable, the bunker can be busted to 'flip' occupancy control. For any 'enemy' system in low-sec, you cannot dock at any of the stations.
As for specific plex mechanincs...they've been changed over time. Basically...orbit the 'button' for the allotted time killing the NPC rats that spawn (timer stops while they are alive). Plex 'size' indicates difficulty (i.e. NPC 'strength'). You're on scan for all in system so expect company :P . |

Thank you dear!
I was aware of the wardeck thing before I joined, so that's fine. I was unclear of how that contesting works.
Oh boy, I am not sure that this no docking thing was a great idea an I forgot that it exists. Three days ago I could dock wherever I wanted in lowsec

I was in Gal Mil for 5 years until recently.... That singular mechanic is why I dropped. IMHO, it lends itself to the situation of forcing your opponent out of low-sec when one side dominates...which is counter-productive to a rich low-sec pvp environment. There's still action to be had....just not of the flavor I prefer...
But if you are in a good corp...it can be a ton of fun and easy to make LP/ISK.

that was what I was aiming for, since eight years of level 4 mission do not pay as much as other activities.
Hey call me nuts but even with tons of isk to make are the faction warfare folks even more risk avers than nullsec folks?
I know from experience that nullsec folks are a little less risk avers but putting a 30 man gang together for three ships is a little overkill..
And yeah, I see what you mean with that docking thing. I think we were not the only ones disagreeing with that.
Well, I am only three days in so I'll keep investigating.
Thanks for your help!

plex = LP
novice is limited to T1 and pirate/faction frigs small is everything up to T2 dessies medium is everything up to T2 cruisers large is anything you need heavy DPS to squash rats in decent time cloaking in capture range of plex = no beacon is the warp-in point and that thing in the middle of plex you need to be within 30km of to capture is called a button
oplexing pays a set amount of LP tethered to the tier level dplexing is dependent not only on tier level but also on contest level, eg. if you dplex a system that's 90%+ contested you can get LP close to what you would get oplexing, not even worth dplexing a system under 50% contested
i think that's it for the basics...

Thank you too!!
Oh my, I like it when I still discover something new after such a long time. Now I need to get used to that I shouldn't kill everything that moves anymore but lucky for me all the folks I am supposed to shoot at are blinking.
Thanks again and cudos!

Risk aversion depends on who you fly with and who you fly against. Most pilots in low sec pay and haul in all their own goods and ships. That sometimes makes them care about risking their ship a little bit more. A Good kill board is a mark of pride too, for some. Other times dudes wont want to run the risk of being blobbed and slaughtered, no point in giving the enemy free kills after all. That being said, I find many pilots are happy to yolo themselves into a fight. It all depends on what that pilot or what that fleet/corp are after and there are a lot of people in the Cal/Gal WZ with many differing goals and objectives. As you spend time in the WZ you'll learn who you like to fight, both with and against, and who you'd prefer to avoid.
As always, joining a FW corp is always a good idea. A few of the Caldari groups live right on the front lines, and can provide you with the logistics and comradery if that's your bag. Or even a nice place to roam and plex out of if you're a bit more of the anti-social sort.

Now that is an unexpected insight. I tend to agree.
I am not new to pvp and some fw fellows know my name from somewhere else. It is just an observation that I made over years now of flying on my own. Some folks would even consider me as competent now.
I wouldn't consider myself as anti-social so it would be best to let everyone who has ever flown with me decide that. You can claim a lot of things behind a fictional character.
Consider me an oddity of New Eden, someone who talks to people in local or shiptoasting after loosing :p (well, depends on how I loose).
Up until Crucible I was one of folks that are commenly referred to as 'carebears'. So coming from that road I saw a lot of changes to the worse from a victims side to the 'not an easy gankmail anymore' side from the behavior of people in general.
EVE has a rough rudeness now which wasn't there when I lost my first ship in November 2006.
Folks that talk to you are scarce as tournament ships and those that don't are too obsessed with keyboard statistics instead of 'exploring' space and see what happens.
But don't get me wrong, I know how some of you 'work' and as sad as it sounds for you, if you want to murder my boat you have to catch me first.

Thank you dear!
I will give this a read
Speaking of,
I wanted to say thank you to the Gallente faction whom took much effort in gathering 36 Ishtar pilots, four Guardian logitics pilots, a Celestic pilot and a brave Areas pilot just for me and two buddies in Old Man Star yesterday!
You humble me with your effort to gank me in a medium complex where you cannot warp to your gang-buddies and watch my Sacrilege fly into the sunset of Old Man Star.
I bow to you in respect of a failed gank that took only and hour and fourty buddies to assemble just to say hello.
I am very sorry to reveal another shocking fact of mine,
I do know what I am doing..
