In all honesty my PC is not a gaming tower. i have a meh laptop with some crap chip set. Looking 8 or nine years back the game has changed a lot in the visual department. I can run the game at 60 fps no problem and would love to push the envelope a bit more. I saw a demo for tessellation and would really love such an improvement in polygon count or texture resolution.
Personally i think this would make the game more interesting. Does anyone agree? Should CCP care at all |

What is your graphics card.. and what level of graphics are you playing at?
Because if GD finds out you are 'wishing Eve were prettier' and are playing it on a ******* IBM Thinkpad 700 circa 1992 at lowest graphics and every effect turned off in order to achieve your "60 fps"... lets just say we all better hope the ISDs are on their toes.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Lol I don't know what my card is but its a bit more current than that :). I'm running the game with everything turned up all the way. I seldom run any other game as well as EVE and only run into trouble with large gas clouds and similar particle effects. |

eve is gorgeous right now, it wouldn't take much of an upgrade to see it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/55twdh60novwwi0/2014.01.15.22.37.27.png?dl=0

Keep in mind that CCP have stated that the average hardware being used limits things like tessellation (requires DirectX 11). All the XP users running DirectX 9 for example. |

I believe that the UI and in-game mechanics are far more important.
Graphical updates are nice, but lets be honest here, we barely get to appreciate the true depth of design unless we zoom unrealistically and inconveniently close to what we are looking at.
I would rather have CCP make more content available for us to take and run with. |

I think the art department is already doing an amazing job. sure its not high end crytek engine graphics or whatsoever but especially for an MMO it is extremely beautiful.
Sure an upgrade wouldnt hurt but before that the base issues need to be fixed furthermore.
For example recently changed "dust" effects and bubbles merging instead of overlapping is already a good start to save ressources and to make room for higher end graphics without midclass PCs melting.
For someone who saw the changes trinity brought. I am more than happy with current graphics lol. altough I am getting very nostalgic remembering the old nebulae and red stripes on my ibis lol.

I too miss the red stripe on the ibis. I also preferred the older minmatar textures too. Gotta trust the rust.

I think if EVE want more beautiful scenery it doesn't need a graphical upgrade, just some more imagination.
Really it's all just
Blue space clouds
Red space clouds
Yellow space clouds
And Green space clouds.
Those clouds could make some neat formations couldn't they?
Or add more background stars in a system?
Or perhaps two suns in a system? (< seems like a wormhole thing already I dunno I've been in two wormholes my entire time in EVE, One was because I was curious, the second was to, eh...*cough* Get rid of some unneeded trash)

Switching to a physically based lighting model and implementing IBL would do wonders for EVE. Don't expect it to happen anytime soon though, would require doing all the ship texture work. |

How this would make the game more interesting? Current style of graphics is ok, high amount of polygons is unnecessary if you have good artist.

I thing Eve's lighting technology is one of the best in the industry atm. I read an article somewhere..
ah here they are:

EVE is actually quite pretty as-is, you just hardly ever see it. If you're zooming in and trying to get nice camera angles while PvP'ing, you're likely doing it wrong. Usually necessary to play zoomed out with tactical overlay on, sort of taking an "instruments-only" approach. Kind of sad to be honest given the nice graphics that EVE is capable of.

Visually, the game has come a long way since I first started playing. EVE is definitely one of the better looking MMOs available, but it could use some improvements here and there. (e.g. Updated lighting model, high resolution nebulae and assets, etc.)
