Edited by: Waxau on 21/08/2006 21:02:29 Yo all,
Well....there i was in Hek (this is where people scream "ive been there ive been there!!!") When i saw a lovely covetor mining. Now i dont like killing miners, or haulers, or anyone who cannot stand up against me in any way, in combat. Eg - i only engage BC and larger in a BC and so on.
Now, i saw this miner, and thought 'hmmmm...'
Now i did the normal rinse and repeat - Take the ore from his can, jettison, and then move all the ore over. But to not raise suspicion, i left prompty, and waited at the nearby planet scanning.
At this point, the barge left, and 2 mins later, back came an iteron V. Waited 30 seconds....warped in with my kestrel...and as he looted my can, scrambled..fired. Got to hull on the iteron, and then implemented a new ransoming form:
"Write me a killmail for your iteron V dude, and ill warp off:)"
Sadly the pilot didnt want to, and actually said i could destroy his ship once he ejected. Damn nice guy i gotta be honest.
Now ive not done anything like this before, and wont really, but it was an insight to see what its like ransoming.
So im wondering - for those who love killmails, and the fight, but like being mr. nice guy, is this a valid form of ransoming for when ya wanna be mr.Nice guy?
(btw - i now copyright this form as "The Waxau Effect" :P
(Btw the pilot was reimbursed for all losses x 2, and the ore was returned to the miner)

Edited by: Setana Manoro on 21/08/2006 21:15:14 Did something similar 1-2 days ago in an Incursus. The subject was a guy in an Iteron II that i saw was in the ... ore redistribution business, and i baited him with a juicy named cargo can that had some ore in it. As soon as he got it i scrambled and webbed him; quickly he was in structure. At 75% i convo-ed him attempting a ransom, but the message was that he was off-line - clearly he had logged, so i took out the ship. Mostly crappy stuff, made me close to 200k. When i got in a station and looked over the killmail i almost cried, destroyed was a cargo mod of 2.4 mil which could have payed for my future cruiser.
PS: In anticipation to the normal forum trolls: - i am an alt. - i did this with this char, not with my main. - i don't care what you think about "balls" to post with main.
PPS: If you are a 5-6 days old char and are struggeling with the ISK, every killmail is a potential source of income. :)

Hmmm, does Brussels have a hand in this ?
Crazy idea, killmails faking = bad, either ransom him for isk or shooty shooty and sell the mining lasers.

Hippo the wise strikes again. I have to agree. Forcing people to pay you at gun point > ALL!

Wtf? Why didnt you just kill him and get a "real" killmail and some loot?
Fake killmails dont pay the bills do they?
...on the other hand using a banana might be a viable alternative.

*scratches head* You had the chance to ransom...you had the chance to take the ship... the chance to take the modules...the chance to take the ore - but all you wanted was a fake killmail ?
*looks confused*

If there is I'd be willing to let the OP use my name on a few killmails, if they buy me one of those shiny new Gallante Battleships when they come out next month.
Personally I couldnt care less what my Kill:Death ratio is displayed as. Makes no damn difference to me.
