Seriously, it's time. I want to be able to toggle my dscan to remain always on so that it auto refreshes every X number of seconds.
Please CCP, give us toggled dscan.
A long time ago CCP said "no" to Warp to 0m as a feature. Then players went out of their way to make endless 0m bookmarks on gates to get around this.
Right now, the game allows us to just mash dscan over and over without a cooldown. In the same spirit of Warp to 0m making life better for all of us, allow me to toggle my dscan to be on.
CCP has already decided that 14 AU is the correct dscan distance for balance purposes. Gankers, you need not worry since there are plenty of ways to avoid detection (warp to a safe outside 14 AU of planets and anomalies, send probes off into deadspace, etc.)
It is simply bad design that I have to continually mash a button for intel while running content in wormholes, and is literally the one little thing that is keeping me from running wormhole content on a more regular basis because of how annoying it is to do. Honda doesn't make me play a game of Tetris on my dashboard just to shift the gears in my car. CCP, please don't make me play whack-a-mole just to get data that is readily available and meant to be accessed in the client. |

So the Goon carebears can rat in even greater safety than they do already? Hmm, pass... |

As someone who mines a ton of gas, I think a regularly refreshing Dscan would be a huge boon to pretty much everyone, not just wormholers. We could be allowed to set the interval (starting at 5 seconds and increasing to a max limit of 5 minutes). Perhaps, to balance this, we're only allowed to use auto-refresh for 5 minutes and then have a cooldown of 2 minutes where we are only allowed to manually refresh. I think in the age of the Empyrian it only makes sense that we would be able to program our ship to regularly scan. |

Local Chat already tells me when a hostile is in system. Far before my dscan does in fact! But I'm sure you already knew that... |

Actually a mid or low module would make sense, keeping the function from anybody who isn't actively searching for it. The refresh time could be fixed to the module and it would have to be activated to work. It couldn't be passive. I'd think it'd take a lot of CPU to run, as well. |

Realtalk now; the wealthier wormholers will just fit it on an alt (either in a cloaked or very cheap ship) and have that client very small with only d-scan visible. I'd prefer an automatic d-scan like Xi'tal said to a half measure like that. |

Yeah, this is why I think it needs to be a baked-in feature.
Let us try it out. If it feels too powerful, make adjustments. Autopilot only allows pilots to warp at 10km ranges. I would understand if toggled dscan were similar and operated on a 5~6 second refresh cycle rather than just immediate refreshes. It just makes me cringe on the inside when I watch wormhole videos on YouTube of pilots constantly mousing over to click dscan. I cannot imagine that looks like an attractive gameplay element to an outsider of the game. |
