I was merrily making my way thru medium-low security space, .2-.3., with an alt character.
Warped to a stargate, and h4ngm4n (EVOL) was waiting there for me. He attacked my alt's hoarder at the stargate..
He destroyed my hoarder but it was empty at the time.. h4ngm4n then proceeded to fly for the stargate to escape the cannonfire, turning on his hardener to protect him..
Then he realized that he can't jump thru after firing on someone, and the stargates blew his shiny 50 mil dollar armaggedon away..
In the meantime, I had warped out to a station and picked up a rookie ship.
Then I proceeded back with my alt's reaper to loot him while he watched from his pod.
Congrats guys, got my worthless 250k ship in trade for a 50mil apoc and some nice gadgets.

That, despite the technicality of not involving a death, is worthy of a Darwin.
A true classic.

Does it need to involve death ?
Oh well. I was testing some tactics involving launching torps and cruise missiles.
Then I saw someone (don't remember where) saying how it would be to launch missiles with a MWD at full speed facing the target.
Well, I almost killed myself: launched 3 and all exploded under my wing, ripping apart my Rupture (was with MWD)
Maybe someone at CCP forgot to "fix" their game mechanics _______________________________________________

Ive done some pretty stupid things myself. Specifically, I have escaped gate blockades only to forget to turn off autopilot and end up warping right back. I have done this more times then i care to remember.
sigh. _________________ "For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."

Quote: Does it need to involve death ?
In the strictest sense, yes. This taken from the website at http://www.darwinawards.com/:
Quote: The Darwin Awards honor those who improve our gene pool... by removing themselves from it. These men and women gave their "all" in an effort to improve the human species. Of necessity, the honor is generally bestowed posthumously.
But in a case like this, I think an exception can be made...

Because of the 10 second warp-in grace period you get, you should be able to warp there, away, and back again over and over and over and still not get caught by the blockade.

Edited by: Amoeba on 13/10/2003 05:27:55 Although Darwin Awards are awarded posthumously, in some years they've included honorable mentions for people who didn't quite earn the award.
My favorite was the frog hunters who were out in the wilderness and didn't have a spare fuse for their car. They noticed that a .22 caliber bullet fit perfectly into the fuse receptacle and even seemed to conduct electricity.
Of course, replacing a fuse doesn't repair whatever caused the fuse to blow in the first place, and a bullet isn't really a fuse. As the frog hunters drove towards home an hour or so later the bullet had steadily heated up from the cuyrrent and BANG!
Now think about where *your* fuse box is, expecially the men in the audience, and guess where the bullet went. (owwie, owwwie, owwie owwie, owwie)
The award for most compassionate wife went to the driver's wife whose first question, when notified of the tragedy by the police, was where she could pick up the frogs.
