Edited by: Lucian Alucard on 22/08/2006 20:16:49 Well this was a long time coming. I am one of the unlucky people still running Windows 98 and as such can't play. My real life situation prevents me from buying a new computer for anything but work ((My current work horse has 2% of 2 Terats of freespace)).
So I would like to thank all of the friends, enemies and random people who made this game fun to play. Everything from the good old days of PF-346 to the mental insanity of GNW and all the new stuff its been great. Maybe I will comeback some day but its not going to be for long time. So gank ya later.

Unlucky. Will be sad to see you go. I'd ask if I could have your stuff, but I'd like to think you'll be coming back some time.
Out of interest, what country are you in?

That's a shame. I have a spare machine here that could have run XP+eve given a better graphics card (I would of course been unable to supply a legit copy of XP with it though) but I can't ship that out of the UK.

Thanks mate for the offer but another factor is Uni,I might have the time to comeback if my second job gives me more hours, hence more money, then I can buy the parts for a new pc in a month or two at the earliest but this is dependant on my classes being rubbish and I drop them and get my money back, which is unlikely since I need everything I am taking.

Hey if a Dell Gen 1 XPS T700R with a 700mgh Pentium 3 can hack it then sweet but doubtful mate. The average output of a pc was 850mgh when Windows ME and 2000 came out with the top of the line machines putting out like 1.1Ghz so I am pretty sure that the machine I am on is just below the new minimum spec's especially since this sucker BARELY passed the old minimum spec's.

OMG Lucian, not you leaving :( I was on win 98 till last week, took me one full day and night to install win2k, service packs, antivirus and fight all the virus and intrusions. So it was a pain but I'm not regretting it, memory management is much better, eve and my other games are running much smoother and the OS is very stable so far.
Give it a try, I don't want to see one my best contract target leave the game for technical issues :(

2000 will run on a bottom-end Pentium 1... its XP thats more of a processor hog.
And XP is fine as long as you have 256MB of RAM (512MB to play EVE).

I can sort you out a legit 2k or XP license.
If a Athlon XP 2.6 nforce2 system is better than what you have, you are also welcome to that.
This is all stuff lying around wanting a home.

My wife ran XP sp2 on a 750mhz AMD Duron (duron is the celeron of AMD and thus is the low end version of a processor) easy.. The trick would be reading some technical guides online to learn how to make XP run as little as humanly possible so it takes up as little ammount of resources as possible.. Currently, my XP install looks like 98, has absolutly no eye-candy, and runs absolutly no extra crap.. I even have cd auto-run turned off (mainly cause I find it annoying) My XP install idles at less than 80 mb of ram usage. Most idle around 150-200. Your computer can handle XP... Don't know how well it could handle XP and Eve.. but It's worth a shot since someone offered you an XP cd.
Edit: If you need any advice on modifying your XP or win2k install to use less resources.. Feel free to contact me c.barbee(AT)gmail.com

Luc, why don't you look into a Lynux OS? There's one that supports Eve. _

Don't leave because of that mate. Like others said, your system will run 2000 just fine. Quite likely you can run XP too, if you want. XP turns on a lot of things that you don't need and there are some nice guides you can use to optimize it. Either of 2000 or XP will easily run well enough.
