At the moment refining is instant and nearly everybody does it whatever their skill level. If refining had a durtion and slots like manufaturing and research this would make efficient refining a valuable skill like manufacturing and research.

i agree that refining should have a time delay but the refining slots i dont agree with it would proberly go the way on most of the ME slots
the fact that you will never be able to get one !!!!

It would make people think twice about randomly refining everything they mine, and they'd realize that you would probably make more isk selling the raw ore to a better refiner than melting it yourself.
I'm for this.

Edited by: Ascrethy on 23/08/2006 11:45:24 you'd proably be damaging the ecomnomy this way, being as "refined materials" would suddenly become in higher demand due to the lack of people refining, and guess what all the ISK selling macro miners would target...
Being as this would now bump up production times of ships and costs, this would adversly affect ship pricing.
I can't see this working without adversly affecting the EvE ecomnomy

actually this is such a great idea i wish i'd thought of it first. however; i would like to possibly add time to reprocessing items as well, dependant on scrap metal recycling skill.
im not worried about a shortage of minerals on the market, in fact thats what is needed. at the moment its just to easy to get what you need. producers, should work for there goods just as hard as the miner and fighter....which bring me to another idea. ill post it just after i finish here.
anyway Wyke great idea, i like it. and im a miner/producer.

That is the intention. At the moment everybody and his dog does there own refining no matter how inefficient. Make refining/recycling a viable career path and corporate niche.
This would stimulate the market for 'second-hand' items. Traders would be able to collate these and sell them to the refiners/recyclers. This would stimulate the economy.

The impact on refined materials would be marginaly beneficial not negative. Dedicated refiners with specialist skills are more efficient than the average player. There would be viable additional market in 'second-hand' items as well as the existing market of refined minerals so the economy would stimulated not be harmed because the gross domestic economy (the total size of trade) would increase. Economics 101. This could also be used to work against Macro Miners, since real players have standing, and standing effects the cost and efficiency of using station facilities.

It could make real estate more valuable. I definitely think refining should be something you can not only specialize in, but something in which a corporation can invest.
Likewise, it serves as something else for which competition to target.
It also nerfs people in npc corps.

Sounds like a good plan I would not do the slots thing though it has hurt the game a lot during the initial stages where people could never get a lab slot in their lives due to them being so extramly expensive.
I would like to see a delay with the output based on say volume and ore quality. Small amounts have less of a priority but large volumes take longer. This way the big refiners will have to plan when refining, the small guys will have to consider if the 2 days for 4 modules and 3 rocks is worth the it or if they should get someone to include this in a bigger refining run.
just my 2 ISK worth... ------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

WHY???
its pointless.
i want to refine these alloys and this useless blaster and that pile of veldspar, "select", "reprocess" oh great now i have to wait 60seconds for the minerals to appear, what am i going to do? twiddle my thumbs??
you dont think its harsh enough that a NooB pilot has half their mins taken away from him during reprocessing, that you now have to make them wait for their minerals aswell??
thats just nastiness, plain evil.
new gamers have a hard enough learning curve already without making it harder for them.

I like this, instant refining always seemed strange to me.
