If there is no manual keyboard or mouse input, the game should log you off after 10 minutes. This would be a protective measure to ensure no one loses thier ship if they were in a hurry and accidentally left their pc on. -------

Al I can say is put on your fireproof clothes, because every trader in the game is going to flame you!
Seriously, how long goes it take to hit Escape and click Quit? 5 seconds? Adding something like that would seriously annoy people who travel a lot, since if you're in secure space you don't want to stare at the screen for half an hour as you go somewhere. And I'm not just talking about being AFK... if you have EVE minimized while you read the forums or surf the web it won't detect that you are online. I think I'd go nuts if I couldn't go do something while my ship flies around endlessly on agent missions...

Edited by: Kalast Raven on 13/10/2003 03:12:21 When I travel I usually chat with corpmates, check people in local or otherwise. Player inactivity - especially during travel, poses a high risk to the player, and sa***uards need to be implemented.

wooo...sa***uards...
that one's SUCH a dirty word lol.
Anyway, there's another issue I believe that an auto-logoff could help resolve. It would reduce the server load, and everyone's lag by disconnecting inactive players. ISP's have successfully used this technique to provide more access to customers with a limited bandwidth. -------

Edited by: Bargler on 13/10/2003 07:11:40 I wonder if the devs find the fruit, fig, offensive as well.
And if they do, that paints a very interesting picture in the mind.
edit: Guess not.

I've never been in so much of a hurry that I couldn't warp to a moon/planet/sun and log out. In places familiar to me, I'll log out while in warp.
