Edited by: Dark Monarch on 23/08/2006 07:50:39 Not to brag, but I might have inadvertently solved the Insta issue in a recent post.
To elaborate the reason an insta wouldn't work is they'd be bounced out of the field and mud-stomped by the defenses. This would return the sense of, caution and people might start warping in at safer distancesą
New Alliance Abilities?
Lets keep the posts separate however anything on comments to whether or not this solves the insta issue should be left here. Comments on the original concept should be left there.

Your reasoning is flawed. Your solution only works if the other idea is implemented. Both of which, I don't really care for at all.

Actually this thread is discussing whether or not the other idea does indeed solve the problem with Instas, and I believe if implemented it will and as per your wording...
"Your solution only works if the other idea is implemented."
Whether or not you "really care for at all" is irrelevant, if they work.
So how is my reasoning "flawed" if the concept, by your own admission "works"?

I'm saying your solution to the problem is only relevant if your other idea is put into effect. Without one the other is useless.
Your idea of defending gates with super POS' doesn't seem like a great idea to begin with. The concept might be sound, but this is all science fiction atm, so really any concept is viable in a fictional sense. It's what the players want and what's reasonably plausible in our fantastic fictional universe that gets things implemented in-game.
I still don't see the problem with instas in the first place. Which is why I said I don't care for either idea's. It's an opinion, not biblical scripture and eternal damnation. Chill out and take criticism with a grain of salt.

For one itĘs not a "super POS'" if you'd read the other topic you'd see it is being fleshed out quite nicely. There's a consensus that it will stop small raiding parties (or slow them down), however will be little more than a speed bump to an actual fleet.

This isn't two separate ideas, just a side post to talk about whether or not the other post is indeed a viable solution to the insta problem. Effectively instas are a cheat around the games mechanics, and warp bubble were a simple fix (if you ask me) to the problem at hand. Which if you don't see the problem then talking solutions with you is pointless. However I'm trying to help form an aspect of strategy into the Fleet mentality, while maintaining game play and helping starting alliances and their corporations.

No of course they are in no way shape or form a "soloution" to instas. Where's the fix for the database issues, for starters?

I was unaware there was a database issue, I honestly was thinking toward actual gameplay. If I was a massive game programmer I'd be sending my resume to CCP.

Well, here's a link to my thread dealing with trying to fix the DB issues. Believe me, it is a problem. Too many BMs in the DB = bad performance.
