Last night a colleague came under attack by Mercenary Frigates at a planet. Five tactically aware frigates jammed the Maller down and proceeded to attack. Unknown to the frigates the Maller had a partner *grin*. I jumped in and took out three of the frigates who then retreated out of the system.
I just want to thank Mercenary Frigates for another exciting Eve moment. Corps like this give this game that added spice. Perhaps we won't be so lucky next time....
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

Yeah you got that right Miso.
Last night we blew up FireLord after he WILLIINGLY came back to the battlefield and engaged us. All he could do is yell out expletives and whine about our ECM gear in local. He even sent me 2 vulgar eve mails.
Geez where is the class? Nice to see some in this thread at least. -Othnark

That's the beauty of Mercenary Frigates, when they happen to score a kill all you hear is: "We're so cool, we got a kill and we only fly frigates," but when they start popping like balloons its all "Big deal you can destroy a frigate, that's not impressive at all."

Not quite. do you even read our posts? we never claimed to be the best. ever. Hell we dont even troll like alot of the corps do around here. WE've been waiting for the original post to die out for a month or more now. It's not our fault *most* people like the concept.
As for taking losses, thats more than usual Thorax + drones = nasty buggers to deal with And anytime there are more than one person outfitted for combat we can potentially run into trouble. About the best fight in recent memory was one of the few times we succeeded against decent numbers:
We had spotted a mining op and counted a Thorax and an Iteron. We choose our jamming targets and gang warp in. We find an Exeqour in the mix as well. no biggy. However, much to our chagrin they all warp out before we can get them locked down. We check the can, tons of ore... time to camp
They warp back in and out off and on, exchanging volleys breifly with us before taking off again. Eventually they come back in force .. the indy pilot had grabbed his thorax. it was now 2 Thoraxes and 1 Exequour vs. 8 frigates.
we bug out, and return better organized .. and thats when the real fun started! We locked down both thoraxes, and began to pound on them. The exeqour was free to fire on us, causing one of my corp-mates some serious hull damage. He had to bug out. One of the thoraxes was losing armor and hull and also ran (these guys had to have warp core stabs .. hint hint). four go for the other thorax while the rest of us go to work on the exeqour.
i start taking heavy damage as my shields finally collapse. I bug out and return, launching my freshly reloaded salvo of widowmaker heavy missles into the already damaged exeqour. He drops down to about 30% armor/strucutre and takes off. Seeing his last buddy flee the last Thorax makes a run too.
We desperately try and reorganize before the undamaged thorax makes his return, hoping to finish us off (although we hadnt lost any pilots we were all pretty heavily damaged). We managed to lock him down this time, and proceed to tear into him. He explodes about 2 minutes later after we pump aseveral salvos of missles and small turret fire into his cruiser. His pod goes free (i dont think s0cks noticed it )
The other 2 cruisers, hearing about thier mate, stayed in the station. They fought well and gave us a real challenge <salutes> -----------------------------------

What makes you think my post was "whining?" I just think it's a good position to be in. It's impressive when you get a kill, and not surprising when you lose.
I wasn't attacking you, simply stating a fact. Scoring a Cruiser or Indy kill w/ Frigates is more impressive than doing it with a gang of battleships, but when you lose no big deal.
What's with the backlash? You guys sure are thin-skinned for a pirate corporation to take such offense to such benign comments. =)

Having been on the pointy end of a Mercenary Frigate attack on a number of occasions, I have nothing but respect for them in terms of tactics and execution.
I fear many pilots' last words will be 'but they're only in frigates'...

I have to admit we have destroyed a few pods but it really isn't looked favourably on by the corp, if it happens it's usually a missile (we have to fire EVERYTHING we have as fast as we can) and we DO apologise
and I apologise for mis-interpriting your comment veruna

Well if youre so elite, Mercinary Frigates, why dont you tell the people here how you are trying to get people involved in war with you?
Hint: Keep shooting someones ore containers and yelling "We want war with you!" until the corp eventually declares war on you.

Thats what they're already doing.Sadly though, most corps don't want war, because they're scared it might screw up their scordite targets they've set for the week.

I know Al Bickham personally, both in and out of the game.
He isn't a member of Mercenary Frigates, nor is he associated with them in any way.
