Has anyone else had scan probe issues since the patch? I missed two kills today because my scan probes turned up nothing, even while the ship I was scanning for was well within range. Snoops probes would scan, finish, and... nothing in the list at all.
Obviously I've used scan probes before--I've just never seen this happen before. The ship couldn't have moved either, he was logged off and had an agression timer, and I had him on my scanners for a good two minutes after my scan probes finished.
Anyone else having this problem or was the system I was scanning in fracked up? ------------------------------- -If you're going through Hell... Keep going.- |

Maybe he wasn't within your plane of scanning? You DO realize that probes scan in a 2 AU height disk rather than a sphere, so if you drop them all in the system plane you can have him on scanner all you want but will not find him if he is in a SS more than 1 AU off that plane? --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! its acually 1 au No disc. They gotta be with in 149 598 000 , Kilometres. And even with that in mind, the 3au ones only work 100% if used in the triangle method. And to get that Takes ages. popping all 3 out in the same spot usually works, but for it to work 100% all 3 need to be in the famous triangulation system and Still be 1 au. Lame aint it.

While the height is 1 AU (0.5 up and 0.5 down) I don't think this applies to the horizontal extension. The result range laps something like 50mil km over the edges of the triangle. If all probes are dropped in one spot, you would have 50mil km to the sides and 75mil km above and below your position. So a 150mil km distance will not guarantee a result.
But well, new system coming with Kali anyways.

Well it's possible he was out of range vertically, but I find it rather doubtful--it was a combat-flagged Crusader that logged off at a planet. I dropped scan probes at the planet, one of the planet's moons, and a station around the planet's 2nd moon. This should have given plenty of triangulation, but I suppose it's possible he was much further away vertically than I thought. ------------------------------- -If you're going through Hell... I stopped using scan probes a month or two ago after a patch. I know someone else who went through about 20 snoops and got nothing, despite them being within range. No idea about the vertical range though.
Personally, I think it's bugged because they worked fine for me before and now they don't work at all.
