Edited by: Dethis on 24/08/2006 08:32:48 What would you guys say is the preffered ammo im doing lvl 3's in a brutix and currently using lead. it gives decent range and it uses hardly any cap but the problem is the damage is crap.
what do you guys use (im reffering to mostly medium hybrid ammo in a brutix) -------- Kill em all and let god sort em out

Im also a (new) Brutix pilot, my current setup is :
3x 150mm Railgun II (Spike S) 3x 250mm Compressed Coil Gun (Iridium M) 1x Remote Armor Repairer (for the drones)
Thats my current high slot setup, the Iridium ammo gives a 20 percent range boost if i remember, letting me engage at 40+ km's. I've been thinking of switching to Thorium (slightly lower range boost than Iridium, but higher damage). Thorium ammo is both more expensive and harder to come by though, so i havent tested it yet :)

I use Antimatter, Iridium and Thorium in my cargo at all times.
Depending on mission I run antimatter to start out to kill close NPC or on encounter missions I load iridium and switch to thorium or antimatter as they NPC's get closer.
You should get blue prints for all the ammo you use and make what you need from mission loot melt down (what I do) i always have all the ammo I need and more than enough extra minerals for otherthings like the Domi I built last week

I have done this, and it works remarkably well for running level 3's in a Brutix. You're going to get rats that want to get right up in your face, and you're going to get rats that like to stay 40km out.
The problem is that the brutix handles like a pregnant yak. This results in the rats staying at their optimal range, so you will have to adjust.

One thing to look at also is that with the guns and skills you use your ammo should be specific to your skills.
Meaning.....
For me I get around 69k target range in a brutix, the Iridium gets with my guns out to around 70k (I believe) so that is the ammo I get max hits. So I use Iridium to to my longest shots, The thorium is mid-Range 30k - 50k and Antimatter is close range around 32k or less.
You should get some of each ammo and see what your range is and setup a mix that works best for you, I would guess the mix I have should be good, but you could uselead as your long range if that is all the farther you can target, it does give a little higher damage.

I use Iridium M and Antimatter M. My guns are a mix of 250s and dual 150s. For ships orbiting me in the 12-15km range, I go with AM in the 250s and Iridium in the 150s. For longer range stuff I use the Iridium in the 250s. And AM in the 150s handles closer ranged frigates pretty well.
Just change ammo as needed.

i use antimatter in a brutix t2 with it's 250mm rails in lvl 4, i think they will work fine too in lvl 3's (i always use am in hybrids, they are meant to stike hard, aren't they? ) -----------------------------
