i'm from bournemouth sunny sunny bournemouth, one of the few beaches in the uk with sand (we import our beach sand from sweden  ), well ill be 18 in a week so same age!

Hmm... the thread says "Plymouth", not "Bournemouth" or "Salisbury", but PLYMOUTH.

that still doesn't include those numpties from outside the south-west, but maybe you need a geography lesson if you think Plymouth = all the south-west

Last time i looked, neither bournemouth or salisbury were on the SW peninsula

w00t for the Bournemouth dudes ... also spent most of my youth in Wiltshire (yeah yeah - nowhere near Plymouth but it's such a charming place - try Avebury rather than Stonehenge - free and about 6 times the size).

i used to live in Higher Ashton up on Darthmoor, right in the middle of nowhere up to a few years ago.. I could take the dogs for a walk in my pyjama's, and not worry about anyone seeing me.Plympy (and to some extend Exeter) was my only link to the outside world.

I used to live in Plymouth for about 5 years, until 1998, I know this is not relevent to the original post. But whats it like down there now?, I used spent most of my free time in and around Union Street and the Barbican. As i was leaving they had just converted the old "Oz" nightclub into a great big bar or something.

Wordy - civilisation is arriving in Plymouth, 2004/05
We will have a shopping arcade, bars, cafes... even roads.
It will be marvellous, and people will no longer weep in the streets through lack of things to buy or do.
Union street is still iffy, but not as iffy as it used to be. Barbican is still the best place to be. What the blazes were you doing there anyway?

I really do not like Union Street either, on go there for WalkAbout and C103 and occasionally Bongogogo (not sure how many go's). Dangerous place, know 3 people who have been mugged around that area, you are very right about the barbican tho, great fish and chips + Quay Club and some damn nice pasta places.

Miso, I used to be in the navy and was based down there for about 4 years, but I'm back up in sunny Yorksihre now. You know what else?, an ex girlfriend used to work in the Uni, as secratery, can't remember which department tho

..and Joshua... my family's all from Sunderland, only the family patriarch my grandad still lives up there but thats where we're from originally.
Every last one of my family are Sunderland fans except me, I'm the black sheep. Anyway definitely don't want to drag football into this!
