I was looking into that myself and have found nothing indicating an election is even being held.
The date is correct, Jacus Roden becomes President-elect of the Gallente Federation YC 111.12.01
I suspect we'll have a last-minute burst campaign from a few hopefuls but the overall disinterest of the voter populace will leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps, as capsuleers, we can help stir some interest? I'd be interested in meeting with other Federal capsuleers and brainstorming some ideas for sparking interest and education.

Has the war-like mentality throughout the Federation that was heightened five years ago come down to a point where the ever critical hawk bloc would consider an alternative to Roden? While his attitude and pro-action stance is pragmatic when action needs to be on the front foot to secure the Federation's security, have we passed that point where the wiser stance would be to secure the borders, focus on economic regrowth and maintain relationships through diplomatic channels?
Not to go entirely dove, but to drop the aggressive tactics and pointless sabre-rattling?
Generally this would be what I would vote in favor of. The Federation and the State have been in a prolonged state of conflict for so long that it seems to be the only way of life any of us recognize any more. Both sides of grown weary of the conflict, both sides have made compromises and taken steps forward and backward so many times that it's beginning to seem more like a dance than a war.
If the Federation can vote in an administration that will redirect our efforts toward establishing official border lines where they were prior to CEWPA and then change our standing operating procedure to border defense and security, redirecting funds that would currently be used to fuel the engines of war toward developing infrastructure like schools, hospitals and job-producing facilities then we could develop ourselves internally and elevate the standard of living for those already within the Federation.
Turn our eyes toward improving relations with the Intaki by reopening the negotiation table, admitting areas we failed and need improvement on and being willing to invest significant time, manpower and resources toward actively mending the relationship - whether or not that relationship is with an independent Intaki sovereignty or with a chartered state - and respect the will of the Intaki leadership while remaining sensitive to changing times and needs as any true friend and ally should.
Focus on the situation with the Minmatar, not just those within the Federation that need representation and equal treatment and need their individual culture respected in so much as it does not enter into illegal territory; but also those within the Republic who have a jaded view of our relationship with them because of our failing in being sensitive to their needs as an ally and friend. Opening communication on both fronts to allow improvement in how we understand and relate to both peoples would be a massive step forward in putting the ideals of the Federation into action rather than keeping them simply as catchwords and political phrases.
This is, of course, just a start and more-or-less my own observations but it is how my vote would be directed.

Technically, he served for one term and resigned in the middle of a second. However, your point stands that the law limiting presidential tenures to one term has been changed.

My investigation into the blanket silence regarding elections this year has led to me a suspicion.
President Jacus Roden assumed office in YC 111, three-years into the five-year second term of then-President Foiritan. The actual presidential election should have occurred in YC 113. As this situation is largely unprecedented, I begin to wonder if the Federation will be withholding election until the year YC 118, the year that an election would normally be occurring and keeping President Roden in office for 7 years, thus finishing out the two years left on Foiritan's term plus his own five year term.

While I'm inclined to agree on principle. What happens in practice is often "unconstitutional" of late.

Your suggestion is noted, Admiral.
Don't hold your breath for a majority vote, however.

Something tells me you shouldn't hold your breath for any sort of vote, Liam. It seems democracy is out of style in the Federation, these days.
I wouldn't be so certain of that, Commander Tuulinen.
The voter-eligible population of the Federation is something upward of 16 trillion individuals. The capsuleer population within that population is less than 1%. It's entirely possible that we simply aren't seeing the advertisements and campaigning we normally see because the politicians have decided it is better for them to keep us out of the loop.

Hold my beer. I got this.
While I suspect you are being overly animated for comedic effect...
I feel I should clarify that current President Jacus Roden could not be described as "some guys with no clue at all about running anything" Anyone who has known me for any period of time will be able to tell you that I have no love for our current president, but the fact remains that he is a skillful businessman and at least a competent politician. In fact, he can be described as a "robber baron," which indicates that also sees opportunities and seizes them.
Whether or not any of these qualify him as a good president is up for debate but they do indicate he has some experience and skill at managing people and administrating business and bureaucracy.

Context, mademoiselle.
You are in a thread regarding Federal politics and elections, discussing "getting elected" (which is entirely a democratic process and only one of the major nations in New Eden has such a process). So, the natural connection is that your conversation is in the context of the Federation and its current administration because the conversation up to this point is in that context.
Now, to argue semantics, you did speak in generalized terms and thus could have been speaking of any of the nations and any of the leaders of said nations throughout known history; I concede that point.
Unfortunately, you haven't said or done anything that would earn my vote so I'm afraid I will not be helping you get elected.
Also, my sincere thanks for your advice. I'll keep that in mind.

Diana Kim wrote: Democracy is disgusting and inefficient. Could you gallenteans just hold it closed tight behind your doors? Because if you like it, it's your right, you might even like to swim in toilet masses. But while it expands beyond Federal border or even to contested Caldari-Gallente warzone, or even into Caldari Prime, it must be burned down with fire like a plague.
Even as primitive peoples as tribals can now understand this!
Mademoiselle Kim,
I wholeheartedly agree that democracy is inefficient. It is specifically designed to be inefficient. The entire concept of branches of government established to check one another's power and deliberations being drawn out to allow the general populace to have a say is contrary to efficiency.
However, we have seen what happens when efficiency is put before prudence and equanimity. I implore you to take an objective look at the collective histories of our two peoples. You will notice that many of the incidents you harbor the greatest resentment toward my people for are the times when the due process of government was side-stepped in favor of efficiency. An efficient response to a threat, an efficient restructuring of the market in war time...
I, for one, am pleased that democracy is inefficient. The more often we pause, step back and evaluate the situation before us to give ourselves a chance to act with clarity and temperance, the less likely we are to repeat the sins we commit in the heat of the moment.

Despite apparent rumors to the contrary, I am not running for presidency and have no intentions of doing so at this time.
A presidential candidate should (theoretically) have some understanding of how to preside over a multi-planetary, inter-system governmental body and its constituents. A bit of experience in a similar capacity is certainly a bonus.
