Now I've been looking all around and I see alot of dead corps, only with 1 member which has been unactive for a long time. Now is there any chance CCP would close them down, some of them got pretty snappy names I'd like to be available

This has been discussed before, and the answer is most likely no. It would screw with player's employment history among a multitude of other things. Not gonna happen.

Keep trying to contact the corps that you want the names of see if you can join and take over

Why would you want to take my inactive alt's one man corp. 
I like having a non-noob corp I can go to at any time, but I wouldn't angry if CCP got rid of them.
There are also alliances with one corp with one man in it.

Handy to have a 1 man corp you can stash stuff at if you need to, also the 1 man corps could sit happily making stuff for the main with the main supplying the items needed to make it, saves tying the main up or even forcing it to jump to some where to make needed kit, the alts their doing just that

It makes me sad when I look up my name without the Earth2150 part attached, and notice that the owner has been in his newbie corp for over 2 years. And AFK mines in Sobaseki with a badger and continuously running civvie shield booster.

Hmm, I have a candidate too that I want. Some one stole the name of my old Neocron pvp clan, which is rather unique, to build a 3 member newbie mining corp that was probably only active a few weeks and then they left the game more than 1 year ago.  Maybe only trial accounts. The even messed up something with upper and lower case, when ripping it off.
Guess my only chance is to hope for a database error plus lost backup to get that name back in to the hands of a rightful owner
