First point is about agression in a gang. Let's say I am running escort for a hauler. We are ganged but are not in the same corp (friend of mine wants security). If he is fired upon and I am not, I can not help him without getting a Concord response, correct? And if we were in the same corp I could fire on the agressing ship regardless of being fired on myself, correct?
Second point is regarding scanners. I finally remembered to mount a scanner (Surface Cargo Scanner I) for the Hidden Stash mission. When I scanned the structures nothing was returned even though some dropped cargo when destroyed. They are listed as cargo scanners but the description says the cargo hold of another ship. Is this the wrong scanner to use for structures? If so, what would be the correct one? The only other one that seems remotely likely would be Analyzer I and since it is for scanning "ancient ruins" I did not think it would fit for this task.
Thank you for any help sent this way.

You want a ship scanner for structures, IIRC.

Thanks for the reply. I will give that a go when I run my next mission.

My understanding of the first question is in a 0.4 system or lower, that if the aggressor has a security status of -5.0 or lower, any pilot can assist your friend(repairing your friend, attacking the aggressor) without being aggression flagged. In a 0.5 system or higher your best bet is to hope you can stay alive long enough for CONCORD or Sentrys to take care of the aggressor. Corp and Gang has no bearing on this.
I'd love clarification on this though.
