Edited by: Kirov VIII on 26/08/2006 16:45:12 I have a big problem with game actually. EvE take 100% of my CPU with one accout !
If I connect in a system and I keep in this system, I don't have problem but if I jump. My FPS decreased and CPU take increased ! After 5-6 jumps, I have 2-6 fps and it's not playable.
I have never never never this bug on old tq with 3-4 accounts but on TQ now and SiSi : YES :(
Proc : AMD 3200+ (2.4Ghz) => 3800+ MB : A8N-E (Latest bios - Driver) GC : 6600GT 256MB (Last nvidia driver and I try too older but not change) RAM : 1 GB Apacer @250MHZ
OS : Windows XP x64 (All patchs)
Someone have the same config ? (I don't understand, EvE work perfectly before this patch ! :*( )

Yeah I've had this problem as well. I do not have the same config as your computer but my game worked fine until the patch came out. Now the "lag" or whatever it is causing it is making it hard to play. I'm going to try to reinstall the client.

simmilar setup here and 100% cpu + lots of lag.
something's bugged. as always.
just get used to it. when they release a new patch u HAVE TO set a 30 day skill and just forget about the game while they try and fix it by deploying 3 or 4 mini-patches. lol.

I have a similar problem (Sony Vaio, WinXP, 1.8GHz CPU, Geforce Go 6200)
The symptom is that framerate drops whenever I warp to a gate. Log in and launch, I am getting 40-45fps. Warp to a gate, drops to 25fps. Warp to another gate in the same system, drops to 15fps. And it keeps dropping.. I think this is the same problem as the OP has, as usually you're not repeatedly warping to gates if you stay in one system. If I fly through a few systems on autopilot, after a few jumps I'm down to 3fps, like the OP.
Restarting the client resets it back to 40fps.
This is new since the most recent client patch. |

Edited by: Borothis Quishir on 27/08/2006 12:41:59 It sounds like you guys are all experiencing eve's massive memory leak. save your pref.ini file and delete eve and download the full build from there site, this is better then patched builds because they tend to leave bits and pieces that arent supposed to stay.

I have reinstalled the game. The problem stay ...
It's not a problem on our PC for my but a problem with this new patch. CCP will make a downgrade and put the old version. It was better without problems ;)
You can reupdate when all problems are corrected. The list is enough long.

over 200fps in station undock with 20 people in local or warp into missions fps downs down to 16fps and spikes. Its still playable at times but for the spec machine i have i shouldnt be having issues at all. Every other high end graphics game works fine so it must be this patch causing server loads generating slow feed to each user.

Originally by: Borothis Quishir It sounds like you guys are all experiencing eve's massive memory leak.
Memory usage rises by only 3-4MB while FPS drops 10-fold; and I don't get degraded performance at all if I avoid stargates. So I don't think it's a simple memory leak. It seems more like a video-related resource leak that is specific to something around stargates -- perhaps billboards or something? Note that I can run two clients at the same time at acceptable framerates (unless I go near stargates!), and I'm not swapping.

I think I'll leave the shotgun debugging as a last resort I get exactly the same problem on two separate installations (on the same machine), so it would be a little surprising if I have managed to break them both in exactly the same way. |

and of course this gets iritating when we have all the people at CCP as usual not saying a word about it.
if there would be an award for tech support being very very quiet, these guys would win that award. lol.
HELLOOOOO CCP!!!!! say something. anything. a "please stand by, continue to pay ur subscription, we don't give a rat's ass about problems after patches" lol.
typical problems tho. i;ve gotten used to them since i been playigng the game over 2 years ago.
New rule for patch around days: 1. set 30+ day skills if available 2. pause subscription to eve for that time 3. log on back in 30 days after renewing subscription and begin playing, but still expect a few bugs :). |

Dragoncode has also increased the latency of my connection, but it spikes only when my mission is completed in space (i.e., killing the last NPC or object). This is 100% of the time, fully guaranteed. It is as if there is a connection problem to the database server or the server is extremely slow to respond to the mission update notification. I can also have the same lag when the missions are asked from agents. There is at least 3-5 seconds of lag (causing my screen to freeze completely) when the mission is completed or the agent database is trying to display the offer to me.
Yes, there was some delay for both events before, but the latency has increased by at least two to three times. Let's hope the patch will fix all the problems listed in this thread...and the other minor inconveniences introduced by Dragoncode.

Well, atleast I know I'm not the only one with this issue.
*sighs some relief*
I've pretty much reduced myself to doing something I've never really done/cared to do...
Mine...
And when it goes down to 9-19fps, that's ...egh, and topic creator, I have practically the same system as you, only with a 6800 instead. Ofcourse, when I was mining, solo, it was 25ish, sank reeeally low when 11 other ships that unleashed 30+ drones popped up.

It sounds like something isn't being offloaded when you change regions. Like texture memory. Eventually you would start loading textures to system memory and once that's gone you would start paging to disk. If this is the case it should be easy enough to fix though.

The (graphical) lag was a problem before the patch, and it has got even worse. I wonder how this is possible with the graphics being more than 3 years old?
If you want to fly solo it moves quite smoothly. But as I have understood, EVE is not that type of game... |

Please delete your post ... If you read all post, you see when this problem wasn't before the patch !!! BUT AFTER !!! It's a problem with this patch not with hardware ... It's not a problem with graphic card or memory ... The CPU take more ressource at each jump ...

I have the same issue when I'm browsing a website that has a flash animation running at the same time I'm playing eve (eve maximized though and website minimized). Eve drops to 5 FPS and I have to close the website or switch to a page without animations. The lag then vanishes. I didn't have this before the patch. There are also lag issues with agent lists or containers refusing to display, and me having to close them and reopen them before the contents show up.

EDIT : With my old PC ... 100% cpu for eve with 1 account, 100% with 2 and no lag. YES but there no ... Each jump, % increased but you can make a mission lvl4 in the system with 100 000 NPC, you don't lag :P May be a little but no to 2 fps and you canno't launch another application without problem !

I think which CCP can really make a downgrade of the server ...
A lot of people see their CPU at 100% because eve take a lot of ressource than before. 50% for dual core ...
The problem is in your code and not on each computer ...

All games are designed to use 100% of your system resources, it might only use 50% if you're on a dual core or hyperthreaded system, otherwise games (including EVE) will always, always try and utilise as many resources as it needs to run at a stable framerate - this coupled with the fact that EVE is a very CPU heavy game, means that EVE will often force your CPU to run at 100% as do almost all games on the market, EVE is no different.
It looks to me like you guys have driver problems if nothing else... All my buddies and me run significantly different hardware and configurations, and I have one that has an IDENTICLE setup to the OP, yet he's actually got a boost in FPS, as have I and all the friends I spoke to when Dragon got released.
To the OP, I would advise AGAINST running 3-4 accounts. I don't know how many times I have to say this... EVE was never, ever designed to run more than one session at one time. You wouldn't try running Doom 3 2-4 times, the same you wouldn't Half Life 2 or Prey or Freelancer. EVE is designed to use 100% of your CPU even if only one client is used or focused. All games are like this - get used to it.
To everyone else, upgrade your drivers (www.ati.com, www.nvidia.com) and see if there is any improvement. If not, ctrl-alt-delete to bring up the task manager and see if anything is running that's eating up more than say, 20% CPU WITHOUT EVE running. Close those down and then try EVE.

For driver : ALL IS UP TO DATE ! For OS : ALL UPDATES INSTALLED !
For CPU take by game, I know but you have different level of 100% cpu ... 100% because there is a loop. But it's not a true 100% of cpu take. With the new patch, the game take really 100% of cpu. After some jump, I canno't open a programm without lag/ I canno't launch a second EvE with lag / ...
Before the patch, I have 2 accounts running and I can see a movie or listen music or surf on internet without lag !

Edited by: Kabuki Jon on 03/09/2006 00:22:42 CCP is aware of some of the "loading lag" your talking about.
As for the 100% CPU usage: Eve always used that much for me (except minimized of course) if you check your kernel times i'll bet they aren't actually 100%, highest I've ever seen is 80% and thats only at dock (not pre-rendered).
Besides a little loading lag my FPS has doubled and game hasn't blue-screened me for 2 boxing since.
Warnings, I got your eve-mail, my system is (as posted before):
Windows XP x64 (patched) Abit AV8 3rd Eye Board AMD FX-55 CPU 2.0 Gb Kingston RAM NVidia 6800 GT OC Video Card Sound is onboard Thermaltake Bigwater cooler (just bragging now) NEMESIS Case (very much bragging) And lots of pretty blue and red LEDs all over in stuff (sick bragging)

blah blah, bunch of rubbish.
Back on topic, I have the same problem on 2 comps: AMD 3700+ w 2mb RAM, Nvidia 6800GS and on a P4 3200 w 2mb RAM, Nvidia 6600GT. However, the odd thing is that lots of times when I have 2 Eve clients opened, one has close to 0 FPS while the other works np. _______________________________________________
CCP please hold my hand. I suck at Eve and I can't compete with other players in a multiplayer environment. |

It's because blah blah, bunch of rubbish, whilst unfocused, the game won't activly work with that client, hence it might drop to 30 or below FPS, depends how much other work your CPU is doing (if you're focusing another client, likely-hood is you're using 80+% CPU on that client, so the other drops to allow the other to work more smoothly)
@Warnings, that memory is dreadful, it has CAS latencies of 3 and 4. DDR1 memory running at 200mhz can outperform that memory running at 2 CAS. After jumping once or twice, settle down in a system and see if your memory usage drops, and you can continue opening programs. I have a feeling it might be your HDD loading textures and such in and out of memory slowly, hence programs are struggling to fetch data from the HDD because it's busy.
