Hey, yo! Ya know, I love(d) this game. I will/did spend from 9am to 1am playing this game everyday, while reading the forums at downtime.
The other day i went to the shops, went in Game, and bought Halo.
I fear I have once again been drugged. I've got used to the relaxed and easy life with friends (corp mates) in Eve and now I've just been handed a dose of action in a DVD-size case.
Its like back in the days of Counter-Strike and Half-life. I've started installing all my action games.. CS, CFS3, Splinter Cell, Quake3. And now every time i load up Eve or just think about it...
/me falls asleep
I don't want to flame Eve, cus its still great. But I guess its just made me realize that it needs more content and more action. I'm sure cloaking will give me hours of fun, but we need more after that. Hurry up with the mobile sentries, mobile refineries, and give us a large variety of mobile devices. Give us Interbus, give us Elite Frigates, give us new toys to fight with. Give us a...
Civil War
Now that'd be fun

I hate to agree with one of my nemeses, but I too bought Halo and am having trouble giving Eve the attention it deserves...
God bless offline skill training...

Does it run smoothly?
Most direct ports from consoles have problems running smoothly on good PC systems.
Splinter Cell was horrendous for the same reason.
Gorgeous but horrendous.

I have to run at 1024x768 with a lot of the detail turned off for anything approaching decent gameplay.
that's with a P1.7 and GeForce 4200 Ti.
A lot of their tweaks in the recent performance FAQ don't appear to do much.

Halo runs fine at 1024x768 with everything on high. Using GF4-4600 with 3ghz P4 + half a gig of pc1066 rimms. It sometimes slows when there are alot of bad guys on the screen.
It also is not compatible with the anti aliasing built into the driver. There is a technical doc u can download from the Halo website explaining why.
I still think that the engine could be slicker though

Yep... Many ppl are in this situation..
1)Got a BS and enough isk to replace it. (Albeit an Apoc rock grinder or flying gun.) 2)Tried most of the "trades" including CEO, trader, miner, security guard and manufacturer. 3)PvP is a little unbalanced (IMHO and subject to countless threads on these very boards.) 4)Done several zillion missions of the ilk "take x to y. Or kill x" 5)Being part of corps large and small. 6)Helping n00bs on the starter channel.
So what is left.... making our own "content"?.
My point is there is no goal left to aspire to for some (not all, so don't flame).

I run it at 1024x768 with most detail at low/off (but with decals still on).
Can get jumpy :/ But I have a GeForce 3 Ti200. Probably a year or more old now and this game has kinda pushed me into getting a new graphics card.
Any ideas? I am very much set on getting the Radeon 9600 Pro. But if anyone has something different to suggest in the same price range (I have a 2.0Ghz-2.2Ghz AMD XP - depending on how much i wanna overclock this 1.4Ghz *****).
Don't suggest FX5600 its a very poor card. For only ú30 more the R9600 Pro kicks its arse.
We've kinda gone off topic here, but sod it.

Aye. I even did the extreme of giving up my main char and fighting in a frigate corp. But after countless hours of hunting in frigates even that can become rather funless...
Content and fun. I think they've changed this game too much to put it in the favour of non-PvP. Sentry guns everywhere, no-more jump-in points (soon), CONCORD, Empire Space pretected. How can there be PvP if 80% of Eve is empire space unless veryone declares war, and i'm sorry but too many ppl are anti-PvP in this game. Full of old farts thats why

Okay, I think i have the answer.
CCP has to buy Bungie, then they integrate the halo engine into eve so that you can now go hand to hand combat on planets, stations and more importantly when boarding other peoples ships.
Additions to your Battleships could include shock troops and boarding pods. Why build a titan when you can board and overun someone else's.
Now that would be cool.

Can u imagine that...
You and others dock onto a battleship in a small tansport vessel (shuttle i guess). Jump out, blow the bay doors, belt it down the corridors throwing grenades into cabins and other rooms. The rooms shake as outside attacks commence against this foe. You blow the bridge doors and all hell breaks loose. Bullets flying left and right. You finally take control with minimum casulties. Open the communications terminal and radio your ships to disengage combat 'we have the ship under our control'

got it, but on my xp2400, 512mb 266, geffo 4200 goes worse than unreal 2. i hope the problem is only about the graph card (only 64mb of ram) but i guess if it's right....

Huh? Splinter Cell is built on the Unreal ("Warfare") engine... The PC version was developed parallel with the xbox version AFAIK.
Anyway, the point is that it runs great on my system, even with 4x FSAA and 8x AF enabled. Athlon T-bird 1400 MHz, Radeon 9700 PRO...
Ontopic: Yeah, I want more stuff ;| But when it gets boring I just take a break (a couple of days) and when I start to play again it's fun :]

Again a nemesis of s0cks (aka sh0es) speaking here but have to agree.
This is the reason the whole of eve is at war with each atm cos the only remotely interesting thing to do now is PvP and even that is not a matter of skill anymore - its who can get the biggest ganksquad together.
I'm slipping back into planetside land at the moment but still desperately seeking something that may just test me.

No, Splinter Cell for PC is a direct port of the XBox version.

Kind of as an aside, I'm rather curious as to why Halo's port from an Xbox (a Microsoft product that's basically a generic, sealed PC) to a full PC platform should suffer from so many problems with gameplay and graphics issues.
I understand they built the code around the stable environment of the Xbox architecture, but still....ah, well, I AM talking about Microsoft...nevermind!
