Do these missions get more lucrative ever? Are we expected to actually route logistically multiple level 4 missions eventually in order to really make a decent income doing this?
Has anyone ever in the history of EVE made a decent income doing these and if so how?
Thanks for reading and responding if you took the time :D |

There is not a lot of isk in them, but there is not a lot of effort or risk either. They are quite useful for gaining standings on characters that do not have combat skills trained.
Training Negotiation and Distribution Connections skills will allow you to get the most isk/LPs.
Warp speed rigs and nanofibers will help you complete the missions faster and of course chaining them together when possible will also help.

I used distro missions for standings on two different toons. Once you get where you can subconsciously warp to the next gate/station when you hear the ship exit the gate, you can easily do something else on another screen. Autopilot is painfully slow, so useless. It is worth noting that only Thukker consistently gave me distro storylines, even from various agents/stations/levels. And I went from 0 to 8 in just a couple days of distro missions. The level 4's can even accumulate a reasonable amount of nice Thukker LP. Amarr consistently gave me security storylines which were a pain to complete, when I was trying to gain standings for trading in Amarr hub. Level 4 distro missions (in a speed fit T1 industrial, better a BR I imagine) might give you an income (mostly LP) similar to mining in an exhumer, I never tried to figure out the exact income as I wasn't doing it to make isk. |

No, they do not get much better. You can fly all L4 courier missions in a blockade runner (you will need cargo expanders), which gives you a much faster hauling time than other haulers. Stick warp speed rigs on them, adjust the fitting for the cargo size and fill the remaining lows with inertia stabs for faster entry into warp, always use your cloak.
Distribution missions are generally run by AFK folks, so the mission reward calculator has tuned their value to almost zero.
Distribution missions are the fastest way to get to L4 storyline missions, which is your only solace :)
For the at-keyboard attention required to run distribution missions, you are better off running L3 or L4 security missions. For the AFK attention required, you are better off running mining missions (in a fleet, with an orca or DST to hold the ore).

Well I am not really afk while doing these, some of the missions even require you to pay attention it seems. But I guess if I really want this all to matter I should probably try grinding up rep with a corp that has clone bays. And yeah the storyline missions I suppose are a saving grace of these missions.
It seems you also have to pick the right location to start doing these as the one I am at seems to constantly give me a 5 mission series quite often which is just slow. I read someone somewhere talking about doing SOE distribution which sounds like a better idea as the LP reward is at least nice and I do think I want to try out exploration more after the recent changes. I might just put pvp on hold for awhile as I try figuring out a viable alternate income for now.
Blockade runners also sound like a good idea, but for the moment it seems impractical as most of these early missions are easy enough with a speed fit Wreathe. I get that I might need one in low sec though as the rewards are likely way better. |

I was doing quite a bit of distribution missions on my trading alt. It looks like your standing with the agent improves the ISK payout. It also looks like the system sec status affects this as well. And LP payment only depends on Distribution Connections skill. I could be wrong, but that is from my observations. Anyway, at the last stage I was running missions from a station with lvl 3 and 4 agents, so I would accept both missions at a time, undock, finish, come back for 2 more. At some point I actually measured the time and calculated the profits for over a few dozen missions. It depends quite a bit on what ISK/LP you can get, but with what I was able to get (somewhere around 1.7k ISK per LP), the income was about 10mil per hour. I used a badger with warp speed rigs and inertia stabs to minimize warping and aligning times. |

Anything a Wreathe can do, a Prowler can do better :) The Prowler has higher agility, higher warp speed, and looks cooler (in some people's opinions).

Prowler is a gank magnet.
I should point out (as someone whos alt does distribution missions for hours a day while talking to clients)...
1) Wreathe is best. The fit is, if I recall:
Highs: SALVAGERS (Those elite wrecks are nice) Mids: Cap Rechargers and MWD. AUTPILOT to the gate is the biggest sink of time. Lows: as many overdrives as you can stick in, cargo expander if you must. I carry a nano because sometimes you just need to get rid of the Overdrive rather than add an expander. Whatever. Rigs: Cargos.
Carry in the hold: 2-3 Data analysers, 2-3 cargo scanners, 2-3 AB/MWDs, and about 10 Data Site Rigs (small)
Why?
All that zipping around, you WILL find data sites. Dock up, buy a cheap frig, fit it and grab it. Not uncommon to get 20 mil in a site.
btw: The proper way is to do the best site first. MWD to the second, Jettison EVERYTHING . Do the second. If you complete it and the rats show up, just put everything in the can. BM the location and come back with your wreathe.
There are ways to do 100% safe missions in NPC null but I'm not supposed to talk about that.

never did i ever lose a prowler, to a gank or otherwise. it is the most useful ship for distribution missions as well as general trade/industry shenanigans. the amarr prorator is a close second, but i prefer the prowler's slightly higher agility.
I should buy an Ishtar.
