I was wondering what a good fit for a thanny for ratting would be... Its my first time flying one and I can't really find a fit that seems good... The fits people have linked me seem to vary too much and then it confuses me. So thank you for your help, anyone. |

Where will you be doing this so we can all come along and say "hi"?
The Ishtar is better, and faster too. |

DISCLAIMER: The below advice is not meant to construe that carrier ratting is, in any form, a Good IdeaGäó.
Generally you're going to see two fits (with some variations within each class). Those that value processing the anomolies as rapidly as possible, and those favor being able to survive being jumped in the middle of one.
In any case, your high slots should consist of at least one True Sansha Large EMP smart bomb (for killing close orbiting frigates) and a cyno (for getting help quickly if you get jumped). Make sure you actually have fuel for the cyno.
Spend the extra money for at least faction mods to aid your surviability. You're flying an expensive ship. Expensive mods won't make the lossmail any more laughable when it, inevitably, happens. Do not, for the love of Bob (all hail his name) fit officer mods to your Thanatos. Unless you're trying to get a spot in the ALOD column on TMC.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a mobile depot on board and deployed when you are in an anomoly. Make sure you have additional resistance modules for your lows to increase EHP if you are attacked. That will allow your friends (assuming you have some) extra time to pull your fat from the fire.
I prefer sebos in the mids to speed locking time against the cruisers, but that's up to you. A heavy cap booster wouldn't go amiss, just in case you suddenly find yourself being nueted by an Ishtar gang.
For combat drones, whatever flavor you like, but make sure you have light and medium ECM drones on had to deal with tackle interceptors that come to pin you down while the aforementioned Ishtar gang comes to finish you off.
Given all of the above, which I learned the hard way, I would say park the Thannie and get an Ishtar. Fit it for speed and sig tanking and orbit your mobile depot while your sentries kill all the things.
A bitter vet trying to start anew.
