The Omega Corp combat pilots prepared for another evening of Curse patrols. Since we were getting off to a late start we were targeting CA mining operations, traffic disruption and psyche harassment raids. The Curse activity level was low so we broke into two squadrons, each consisting of 2 OC Battleships and 2 Hvy Cavalry support cruisers with 1 Light Cavalry frigate scouting and identifying blips.
Specter (Duke Droklars military clone) was in command of Squad 1 with Ralith, Balmer and Lord on my wing. Lord Korath took command of Squad 2 with Domon, Ghengis and Tarilious Drackon with Wesst as Scout. The two squads headed off keeping several systems between them attempting to corral bogies. The usual cat and mouse ensued for an hour or so. Squad 1 then set course for HLW while Squad 2 brought up the rear.
Squad 1 encountered 4 CA hostiles in XX9-WV so we secured the RA-NXN gate. Squad 2 was instructed to hold 2 jumps away and block traffic in that direction. Our position was probed several times by enemy scouts who then immediately withdrew. I invited the CA present to a 4 on 4 skirmish to test one anotherĘs metal. They did not accept but I was taken aback by the air of professionalism in their banter. Not at all what we've come to expect from CA forces.
In time additional CA pilots began to enter XX9. Their numbers rose, 5 then 6, Squad 2 was instructed to close to M-N and hold at the gate to XX9. 7...8...9, it appeared an even battle was not on their minds. Squad 2 was directed to reinforce our position in XX9. Scans revealed a nearly identical sized enemy force. Squad 2 arrived and immediately took the standard operational positions with trained precision.
No sooner had Squad 2 positioned when the CA warships materialized from warp.... it was on!. Primary target was designated and concentrated hellfire rained upon him. OC ewar disabled several CA battleships while I quickly found my targeting jammed by LemoFo[PS]. I ordered the bridge crew of the [OC]Crusader into full burn towards the ensuing battle and requested ewar support to free my weapons. OC support acted quickly and I immediately opened 2 missile banks on the offender while all remaining systems were focused on the CA Battleships.
The primary CA BS target was webbed and scrambled by [OC]Vigilant commanded by Domon. The target was taking serious damage, however Domon was also being hammered mercilessly. With capacitor low he was ordered to withdraw and return asap. This allowed the target to barely escape but also saved the [OC]Vigilant from possible destruction.
The second target was designated and nailed to the deck by Ralith commanding the [OC]Dreadnought. Turret fire, missiles and drones danced in the cold depths of space. Large and small shock waves ripped the eternal night in spectacular displays of color and destruction. Within a brief time the CA BS exploded as missiles continued to detonate in a chain reaction.
The battle raged on for a full nine minutes as CA forces withdrew and returned in waves. Funny how long nine minutes can be in the heat of battle. The OC battle group operated with well honed teamwork as a CA Raven commanded by [SINC]Raidek became the unfortunate focus of our attention. Helpless and unable to escape it was not long before he met the same fate as his comrades. With this second major blow the CA forces withdrew from the field of combat while OC searched for spoils. Unfortunately little was recovered as most had been vaporized in the chain reactions of fiery death. Definitely a downside to missiles and torpedoĘs. Loot however was not our goal and our thirst for combat and CA blood had been well quenched this night.
The final results were 2 CA BS, 2 cruisers and a scout destroyed = 150-200mill. OC losses were 1 cruiser and 1 frigate = 4mill. We salute the CA pilots that engaged us and we respect the professional manner with which they conducted themselves. This is the stuff Eve is made of. To those that say "Eve is too boring, nothing exciting happens", I say get your nose out of the roids once in a while. The battles are there and offer the chance to experience it from either side, good, evil, pirate and anti-pirate alike. Choose a side, choose the appropriate corp and or regional alliance... join the battles and LIVE!

We should get together after the battle and talk losses so both sides can get the numbers right next time... Our side lost a raven, caracul and a rupture. We think your side lost 2x blackbirds and a kestrel. Seriously though, instead of posting guesses do get ahold of us next time and we'll be more then willing to talk about the battle, tactics and losses.

I personally witnessed the destruction of the 2 BS's. I also know for a fact that we lost 1 cruiser and 1 frig as I stated. The map displayed 7 ships destroyed which is exactly the number of my report. I stand by my account.

Edited by: Harrow Wilkes on 16/10/2003 15:30:04 [ooc]I agree 100% that this was a great battle between CA forces and Omega Corp. I especially enjoy the fact that this has not turned into an ugly incident with each side claiming the other lied. I really think this bodes well for great battles in the future between SA and CA forces that don't have to degenerate into "trash-talk" fests.

Edited by: Korath on 16/10/2003 23:27:14 Indeed, this was an awesome battle. Lots of fun, both sides congradulated the other on a battle well fought. It was nice not to see the usuall smack talk for a change.
Also Leyla, I'm sorry you disagree with our account of the battle. Many of our guys will swear they saw 2 battleships go up in flames so thats what we reported. Since the general consensus is that we took down 2 battleships then thats what we reported in the fiction. We don't try to lie about enemy losses just because we can. Just call it like we see it.

Indeed, well fought. Your holding your 2nd task force in reserve in another system until CA forces were ready nearly to strike with supposing overwhelming odds, and their quick integration into your formation speak well of your tactical prowess.

its great to see a battle being fought with honour and proffesionalism from both sides. plus, the absence of smack talk and flaming is a welcome break from the normal CA vs OA (Other Alliances) bickering. i hope this can continue.

Great battle most fun i've had playing EVE. I think all involved would say that this battle was intense. A well fought battle and great convo's after. (No smack talk at all from either side).
Hats off to the CA and my corp mates in Omega.

Would you please grow up at some time. This battle and the one tittled "Blooded at XX9" are 2 different accounts of 2 different battles. Maybe if you showed up for once instead of just trash talking on the boards you'd know that. Damn, we keep things civil and you come in here and say something like to screw it all up.
