Originally by: Oveur Take the EIB scam. We answered these very same questions the last time the [Insert any big scam here] was in the spotlight. We do not interfere, unless there was a violation of the EULA or Terms of Service. I mean, people transfered this guy their ISK. He then doctored screenshots and whatnot to prove his legitimacy. Then shows screenshots of how big the scam was. Hmm.
We're not going to replace trust, nor are we going to fix situations where people send their money to some guy in hopes of getting it all back. Then again, we'd like to support IPOs and other such models, but that's down the road.

I suggest we make some noise on the Features board, and the General Discussion thread about this point.

Hell.Yes.
Three big things I want:
1.) Exportable Wallet (like the market exports) 2.) Filtering by category (was it a ship? taxes? brokering fee? a buy order? a sell order? something!! and of course still able to export results) 3.) The ability to better manage/keep track of Shares
Mostly, I just want better reporting. I'm not asking for increased power of who does what with shares.

For what purpose, precisely? What he's saying is that who you trust is your responsibility and they intend to keep it that way. Seems very uncontroversial to me, one of the finer points of the game is people aren't protected from their own idiocy.
New economic instruments would be nice, certainly. Starting with that working stock trading.

No controversy for you perhaps. While I personally agree with the view that trust is a personal issue, I know that other people feel differently. Also in Devspeak "we would like to..." translates roughly to "it's not a priority to...", and I think that those of us who frequent this board, would like to see financial tools get some priority.

Do you need CCP to hold you hand whilst you play EVE?
The developers have given us the means to persue any career path we want or shape the game to how we want it. If something happens you dont like then do something about it instead of whining to them.
They have made the mechanics of the game in such a way that it is just as easy to prevent yourself being scammed as it is to scam.
Take the IPO insurance plan I devised. It prevented Mung Lore from stealing ALL the assets from that corporation and all I used was the tools CCP gave me, and more importantly have given every one else too.
Use your brain and stop asking for the developers to solve the puzzles for you.

Two things to point out here.
1) The "insurance" structure was not that great since it allowed you to rip off the IPO: a good structure is a win-win for both sides in a transaction...It would have been good if there was a check on the bank's power in the relationship.
2) After having spent a lot of time thinking about what happened with the EIB and what could be done to help reduce (you will never eliminate it completely, but that is the way this game is...) the risk of that recurring , I have come up with some interesting structures that I think could both reduce the risk to depositors and probably also make banks more viable as a business in EVE. I will be running these by a major industrialist to see if I am missing anything important on the corporation mechanics. Then I will post the ideas here for comment.
Structure is everything for corporations in this game; If you can come up with one where everyone is better off it should fourish...

I hate seeing "X sold Stuff to You" in the transaction history.
What was the STUFF?!
