Edited by: Praxor on 31/08/2006 18:05:25 About two months ago, I rolled my first Eve character, Naxor. I had no idea what I was doing, so just had fun with it. Out of the gate I started with 20k sp and had really skewed stats (eg., 15 int). Nonetheless, I had fun running missions and advancing my character.
After a post online, someone suggested that I might want to re-roll with more balanced stats and suggested the path to get around 90k sp out of the gate. So I started a 2nd account and did just that. This is that new acount, Praxor. It's a completely separate account, so I can play both at the same time.
So I continuted to play Naxor (1st toon) until this character outpaced him in skillpoints, since I was having more fun doing lvl 2 missions with him (Naxor). About two weeks ago, that's exactly what happened. So here I have this new toon (Praxor) with about 900k sp and a nifty Caracal with bells and whistles. I've been running through lvl 1 missions like no tomorrow. Of course, they're trivial with a Caracal. I figured I could just blow through them and get back to where I was w/ running lvl 2's. I selected a Caldari Corp. that I had the highest faction with (Caldari Police Foce ... I think) and went to the agents with the highest lvl 1 missions. I've been running them forever (in Haamoto?), but my faction with Caldari is still really low (1.01) and I can't get any lvl 2 missions to save my life. My faction with the corp is 0.44 and rises ever so slightly with each boring repetition of the missions.
I thought, perhaps it's because I didn't run too many of those early courier missions for Kuola whatever his name is. He's the agent it seems everyone is referred to after the tutorial. I ran one or two missions for him then went right into Command, Security, etc... missions so I could blow things up. But when I go to try and start a conversation with him now, I'm told he is "not an agent."
I've had only one storyline mission with this toon so far other than the one or two I did right after the tutorial. It just showed up in my journal at one point.
So I'm at a loss. I can't bear doing these same missions any more. I've literally done the same ones like five or ten times. It's killing the game. Please help!
I do plan on PVP'ing very shortly, but would still like to advance in the missions when I just feel like soloing. It seems that something is amuck with my faction / standing progression and I don't know what to do. It didn't take nearly this long with my 1st toon to arrive at lvl 2 missions ... and he did it the old fashioned way, with Frigates!
Thanks,
P

Edited by: Jastra on 31/08/2006 18:23:52 are you refusing missions?? - you get a storyline like every dozen missions or so, you need to do them early on without fail to get your standing up.
And once you get to lvl 2 you'll get to do the same lvl 2 missions over and over until you get to lvl3's and then...umm anyway ... missioning is a bit of a grind but it is nice steady income

No, I'm not refusing any missions. It feels like it's been more than twelve missions since my last storyline. I guess my main concerns are:
a) Did my not doing a bunch of missions for the guy after the tutorial hurt me? I recall from my first toon that they were all courier missions, so I just did one or two then move elsewhere.
b) Why does that (I forget his name) agent that the tutorial referred me to show up in my "Peoples and Places" agents ... if I can't talk to him? It keeps telling me when I try to start a conversation that he's not an agent. It says the same thing for the tutorial agent.
All in all, it seems like much more of a grind with my 2nd toon. I've run many more lvl 1 missions already than I did with my 1st toon. So something is amuck it seems.
Thanks,
P

what are your social skills like? A few levels in connections should help get you to lvl2's quicker, also social and negotiation might help you out

Did you train in Connections? This helps out a bit.
My character is a little over 2 months old with almost 2 million SPs and JUST got to level II missions. I know I was overjoyed. My missions net me around 150k ISK each time and with my killer drones, I can finish in about 3 minutes each one.
Lots of fun too. Got me some Homeless and Janitors last night.
Acerbus Vindictum may be able to use you.

I don't think you have done many storylines because your faction standing sheet is still quite blank. Read the standing transactions of the faction and see how your actions affect it.

The tutorial agent (8-part mission) or the normal agent?

Some agents are deleted since the Dragon patch. It's still a big mess now.

me too, i have a bunch of those guys, a few marines and a number of exotic dancers. i also have a Damsel in Distress in one of my private hangers, but don't let the others know, i don't want them to think i'm playing favourites
i sometimes take them all out on long, boring trips, so they can keep me entertained. the Janitors HATE it when I bring along the Livestock. They can REALLY make a mess of things.

Are you sure you're working with the best agent you could be? It's possible it feels a lot slower because your old agent was QL20, and your new one is QL-20. :)

The "normal" agent ... but the first one that the tutorial guy refers you to.

If you do those missions you get an automatic standing increase to 1.0 with your home faction. That will let you use -20Q L2 agents. And there's the implant.

These Missions have been broken by the recent patch and the removal of courier missions, so no newbies(including myself) are getting that +1.00 faction which I really could use right now! =(
