I noticed that the Eve directory was getting pretty big - over 3GB in fact. I thought maybe there was a bunch of old patch data in there or something, so I started fishing to find out what was using so much space.
Turns out there was 1.32GB of files in my eve/logs folder! That's right... 269 #crash*.dmp files, and 831 #errors*.txt files in just over 5 months of game time.
It looks like Eve makes a #errors file every time I start it... and it makes the #crash file when it crashes (duh). So, if I started it 831 times, and it crashed 269 times... that means when I start Eve I have a 32.3% chance that it will crash before I logout. That doesn't count disconnects. It's probably much worse than that though, since the number of "successful" sessions is skewed by all the times I logged in for 2 minutes just to update the skill I was training.
The files have a Julian date on them, so I can tell what day the files are from. Obviously, I don't play every day, but like many other people in Eve I do play a lot. From the dates, I see that I logged in on 149 seperate days over the last 5 1/2 months. This means that I crash an average of 1.8 times per day!
No... I'm not playing on some old duct tape and bubble gum machine. It's an Alienware PC that I bought in January of this year. And no, I don't have problems with anything else crashing.
Anyhow... if you find your PC low on disk space, I suggest this directory as a place where you can reclaim some of your computer.
LOL... HTTP 500 Internal Server Error as I tried to post this the first time.
*sigh*... CCP hates me

LOL I can only imagine mine. 3 years on this account and 2 on my alt.
I might have to have a look at this.
No one can hear you scream in space, so just shut up and die already. |

You can safely delete everyting in the Cache folder except
1. the prefs.ini file 2. the Setting folder. This contains your bookmark folders, so if you deletd it you would have to reorganise them all. 3. the Browser folder. This contains the In Game Browser setting and boomarks. Unless you want to keep all those logs, chat, combat etc, empty it regularly. You will see a marked improvemnt in your client.

Your numbers are likely sadder than that... since I've started running the logserver to record my many, many, many crashes, I've noticed that Eve does not generate a crash dump or an entry into the history.txt file every time it crashes. I'm not sure what the percentage of "undocumentage" crashage is yet, but maybe I'll do up a spreadsheet someday ;)
