if it was last night I can sum it up.
People ask stupid questions that were well scripted and usually are not important and have no relevence to anything the community truly wants to hear.
TomB says "I didn't know that huge, game cripling bug was in the game"
And then some more questions about stuff no one wants to know about.
No one will ask questions like:
"Where is the road map for eve with dates like we were promised 2 months ago?"
"Where is the new tech level stuff every other month we were promised at release?"
"Why has it been almost 5 months and nothing new has been entered into the game besides implants and a miner II BP? Does it really take 6 months to make a bp?
"Should we expect every single new item in teh game to take 3-4 months of testing before it comes to Traq? Example: Mobile refiners?"
"Has the communication problem between the community and the bug fixers been looked into? Adn what of customer service and the long wait time for response?"
All in all, the meeting was once again useless and nothing was really said. ---------------------------------------

Yes, ur totally correct there, the questions are lame. And even when one that is slightly interesting is asked its normally brushed off with a often unrelated comment.

I got a couple more:
"Why havent you fixed the drone lag problem yet? How hard is it to tell the engine to not render every drone on entry to the system, but to represent them with graphical crosses instead"
"Why are you not listening to the guys that have pertenent wquestion concerning the PVP mechanics of this game, why are you not attempting to solve the one riddle that stops this game becoming mass market?"
"Why does your petition system, nore often tahn not, fail to deliver a decent fee of customer service?"

"Where is the road map for eve with dates like we were promised 2 months ago?"
Click on "updates" It's pretty crappy though as there's no dates (as you said), but they never said anything about dates. Only roadmap
"Where is the new tech level stuff every other month we were promised at release?"
No problem with tech lvl2, but the advanced manufacturing that they want to use is still in development. They could have released all tech 2 stuff several months ago as it's there.
"Why has it been almost 5 months and nothing new has been entered into the game besides implants and a miner II BP? Does it really take 6 months to make a bp?
Because they are so damn slow :/ WORK FASTER FFS CCP! And no it doesn't take 6 months to make a bp, but other things takes time.
"Should we expect every single new item in teh game to take 3-4 months of testing before it comes to Traq? Example: Mobile refiners?"
That question was dumb. Very dumb. And you probably know it. What took time for things like mobile refineries was the whole anchoring thing, and stuff like that. Not the item itself.
"Has the communication problem between the community and the bug fixers been looked into? Adn what of customer service and the long wait time for response?"
Actually I've never had to contact customer support more than once (started playing on release), and the response time was under one hour. But I know there's problems, I guess that CCP simply doesn't have the money to get more GM's. But that's of course no excuse.

I'll add...
what about "When will the TRADE skill (a starting skill) be implemented?"
or...
"When is the storyline going to start? I don't call the amarr emperor thing a storyline... It's not open to all players... and grass grows faster than that's moving along."
or...
"Eve has disappointed many in the player community with poor (at best) customer service, rampant bugs, questionable testing and release policies for new items, little or no content. Why would I recommend this to a buddy who doesn't play already?" |

I don't think anyone loves this game more than I do, or did. I got such joy from playing it int eh begining when we all were doing new things, then after 2-3 months, we ran out of stuff. I am just really sad it has stalled like this.
My brother plays Earth and Beyond and he tells me they get a lot of content updates often and bug fixes all the time. He says the game makers actually listen to teh community. I tell him to stay in E&B. ---------------------------------------

To be honest, I don't like asking for specific features myself. Most can't be implemented without a significant amount of time, during which it's almost guaranteed that something more important will come up delaying it. Looking at it directly, how could TomB justify implementing a feature mentioned during a CSM held post release when many features that were supposed to be in at release are still missing? Minor improvements and tweaks that can be implemented easily? The devs need to pay attention to the Idea Lab more. And really...why bother asking for a feature that even if they like it it's most likely to get the answer 'Soon(tm)'?
My preference is for the issues that are conceptually wrong. If the concept is bad, then any mechanics built on top of it will be bad as well. And I don't bless the developers with omniscience so I do believe that they can be unaware something is an issue, let alone an issue of interest to players.
The highways, for example, will be in the next one I get a chance to ask about. Haven gotten a miner II blueprint, I've found most markets with little to no variation in price. That should tell people something is wrong. Prices along the highways are essentially the same because the same manufacturers are feeding the market. And those hoping to buy low and sell high realize that Heimatar is only 1-4 jumps away, which a person will easily travel to save 500k-750k.
Blueprint licensing is also on the agenda. Watching the trade channel, exactly what I predicted came true: WTS/WTB Single Run XXX BPC. For even the most mundane of items. Blueprint owners have a method to recoup their isk at the detriment of manufacturing and trading. What little demand there is gets overshadowed by the "For 15m isk and mining, I can buy a battleship". Fewer people are interacting with the market and more are interacting with the trade channel. The problem is the market is an integral part of Eve's economy. The more people bypass it, the more the game suffers. Can't sell minerals above npc prices if nobody is manufacturing to increase the demand. Can't buy products cheaply where they're being manufactured and export them elsewhere if everyone manufactures from a licensed copy.
Now I'm sure I could easily ask: "Could you remove blueprint licensing?" or "Could you remove the highways?". But without the reasoning, don't those questions look rather stupid? Unless the TomB is already thinking along the same lines, why would he even consider it?

Exactly Jash, There are many other problems with the map other than adding features, like the "Systems Visited" option has been hosed for months. As an explorer, I liked this feature. Too bad it broken.
PS I apologize to anyone who has asked a good question at the CSM chats. There is possibly 1-2 q's that were good throughout any of them. ---------------------------------------

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 16/10/2003 23:42:38 Ok, read what I wrote and not what you thought, a map setting showing all corporate offices, not office space for rent.
Tease being heavily into misinterpretations was nothing new, if you had bothered examining the trashing function for a few seconds you had realized that it was the more useful of the two that was defunct, the remote trashing.
About asking for questions for the CSM, I can't recall a thread stating that in a clearcut headline any time when I was online, maybe it isn't us being set up against you but just you setting it up poorly?

Good, I'm glad they took out the remote trashing.. I was sick and tired of hearing people whine all the time about accidently trashing thier ships in the assets window.
As for CSM questions, I've always just evemailed my questions to CSM members, it's easier than waiting around for a thread, or fighting the enormous list on eve-i. All but one of the questions I've sent to CSM members have been asked, and every one of the CSM people I've evemailed has said nobody ever sends them questions to ask, just like what Jash said..
Also, the reason your "idea" was misinterpreted was because you don't clearly explain what it is you'd like to see.. After your last explanation, I'll assume you want a button that simply lights up every star where a corp office is located, which would pretty much give you a useless map with all the stars lit up..
