Yes, pretty shiny processor and RAM.
Geforce 9 though? You sure that isn't 7900?

I'd imagine you mean 7900GT, as a 9700GT doesn't exist.
Swap that 4200+ Athlon for a 6600 Intel Core Duo and you're onto a winner. ---------------------------------------- Space-Slacker |

Definitely, the Core Duo's are awesome, many times more powerful than the A64's atm

The computer seems fine, though you might want to get the keyboard checked out. Seems to be generating Typos..... Diplomat and Recruitment Officer |

Not bad.
I recommend Corsair XMS 2 Ram tho, and get a mobo that is compatible with the RAM as well.
Also, switch to the 6600 Intel Core 2 Duo as mentioned.

Is the Core 2 Duo really that much better than the Athlon X2? Why?

If your gonna use it primarily for gaming get an amd processor, if its a multitasking work machine, pentium is your friend.

The above statement is no longer true. Core 2 duo outperforms current amd offerings across the board, you can't really go wrong with a good amd chip but you'll do better going c2d right now. Performance/$ is better with the C2D, not to mention they are amazingly overclockable if you're into that sort of thing. I've oc'd my 6400 from 2.13ghz --> 3.092ghz with no change in voltages, completely stable prime95 (stability/folding program) 12+ hours.
The general concensus among enthusiasts (nerds like me that is) is that amd has some catching up to do.

The Core Duo 6600 is the best CPU you can buy, for power/price ratio. Read this Review and then go and get one, until AMD can come up with a new processor. ---------------------------------------- Space-Slacker |
