I attempted to do Vengeance with a Megathron and failed.
I completed the first stage several times with a few warp outs, the second part I did once, but I have not yet had a long enough play session to complete it, then it expired and I lost a ton of standing, so now I can't use the sweet agent I had.
So I tried to get one from a lesser agent and got The Right Hand of Zazmatazz and it's royally kicking my ass.
I've got 3M skillpoints, Drones V, Large Hybrid Turret V, Missile Launcher Op V, Electronics V, pretty good mechanic skills and I just get pwnt by the Zaz mission.
I asked around and tried warping in at 100km as recommended and that didn't really work either, I tried to take down Zor first and barely got through half his shield before I had to warp out with 14% armor left.
What in the world am I doing wrong? Are missions that much harder now? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Theists should not try to use logic to prove their gods exist; it makes as much sense as spiders playing with matches. |

are you using the right types of damage and hardeners? I found level 4's hard until i started using the guides at the top of the page.
Tech II hardeners make alot of difference

When I started doing missions, I did them - rather obviously, as I'm Minmatar - for Minmatar corps in Minmatar space. I found them quite tricky. I still run them occasionally, and despite having 24M skillpoints some of them require concentration to run properly.
At that stage, I couldn't understand why missions seemed so hard in comparison to what I was reading on the forums.
When the power of two offer came up, I started a new account with a Caldari Achura Monk character. I mostly run level 4 missions with her, in a raven (of course). You would not believe how much easier it is, despite the fact that she only has 6M skillpoints (2M of those in learning skills). As for level 3s, in most of them I could walk off and make a cup of tea and come back to find my ferox still happily tanking the rats.
Lots of factors affect mission difficulty, but I think the difference between Emily and my Caldari alt is down to two things: the ship, and the enemies. The ferox and raven make mission running easy. And the enemies that caldari face, usually with only two damage types (kin/therm or em/therm) are easy to tank.
As for Right Hand of Zamatazz, it's Zor spamming thermal torps at you that I find is the real pain. Get close to the rest of the rats and the damage spread across all 4 types can really chew a ship up.
Edit: This link is extremely useful.

They do all 4 kinds of damage, but I'm using:
(2) N-type Thermals (Zor does a LOT of thermal) (1) N-type Kinetic (1) N-type Explosive
And I'm still getting stomped. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Theists should not try to use logic to prove their gods exist; it makes as much sense as spiders playing with matches. |

I am Caldari, doing Caldari missions in Caldari space.
The thing is, the raven is so ******* dumb looking IMO - and I like drones - that I sorta went Gallente...
I could be in a Raven pretty quickly given that I already have most of the pertinent skills. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Theists should not try to use logic to prove their gods exist; it makes as much sense as spiders playing with matches. |

How exactly can you have only 3M SP and all those skills at lvl5? Must be seriously lacking in other departments. Or was it a typo?
I used to do Zazz in a Mega at maybe 7 mil SP with one warpout and no sweat, fielding a Sniperthron with a therm shieldtank and a shuttle bookmark. And now in a gist Raven its a cakewalk. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Link removed due to bad language on remote site. -wystler

The reason you failed these missions has two reasons.
Firstly, you got really unlucky and received some of the harder level 4 missions. There is variance in difficulty in the various level 4 missions, and Vengeance and Right Hand of Zazzmatazz are amongst the harder ones.
Secondly, no offense, this:
Originally by: Xaen I've got 3M skillpoints, Drones V, Large Hybrid Turret V, Missile Launcher Op V, Electronics V, pretty good mechanic skills
With 3 million skillpoints in total you are going to need atleast a similarly skilled buddy to help you out. I have about 15m SP and I still don't do Vengeance solo.

Your other problem is 55% armour explosive resistance while fighting Angels at L4. That's a recipe for disaster, no matter how many skillpoints you have in other areas.
You may also find that Caldari Navy mission NPCs tend to use racial jammers, not multispecs. It's a case of 'right tool for the job', and in this case that means Gallente BS with only 3m SPs is going to be a big problem.
I would recommend doing L3s until you can run a T2 tank on the thing.

Yea thats kinda the truth right there. Obviously since gallnte armor tank and armor base is 10%, shield tanking would be a better choice...

Edited by: The RepoMan on 02/09/2006 22:18:18 <--- started l4's with a lil over 1mil sp, stop talking out your ass. Just because you and your friends dont try it (or are simply incompetent) doesnt mean it's not possible. And no im not talking about insanely easy ones either. I ran ge without any problems, and vengeance is a joke with even remotely good drone skills.
Currently, a few months later I have 84 skills and 3,369,010 skill points, and most l4s I can walk through blindfolded, now that I have a few pieces of t2 equip.
Op, if you're having problems, just keep trying until you figure out where it is, fix it and get better, dont supplement it with skills or equip, or you're just fooling yourself.
Edit: That top bit was mostly aimed at mike, hehe didnt quote it seems. Though everywhere I go there always seems to be near 90% of the people following that point of view.

Use a shuttle to create a bookmark that places you at about 100km or what ever is a good optimal range for you. At that distance the only thing hitting you will be the thermal torps from Zor so you only have to tank a single dmg type. Fit an ab to keep your distance from the pack after you aggroed. I got about 7m sp and using a tempest this can be done easily without warping out using the tactic described above.
