Is it better just to mine trit with a hulk, sell the trit, then buy ice products rather than use a mackinaw?
Can someone run the percent comparisons with:
1) mackinaw mining white glaze or basic ice
2) hulk mining trit (or scordite etc)
3) hulk mining ice with 3 ice harvesters
assume max average or max skills

Silly question but can't you ice mine in a hulk?
Also Why mine trit? There are a crap load of other ores/minerals out there that could make you alot more isk that trit.

Trit prices in my region sell for 2.3. Also the t2 veldspar crystals are dirt cheap, so it kinda averages out...
The mack gets an ice bonus, but I'm not convinced that mining ice with an ice bonus ship actually equals just mining veldspar and just selling the trit and buying ice products. |

I would like to know this as well people have ask me these questions.
1)
A mackinaw with level 4 Exhumer skill, two T2 ice harvestors and two ice harvesting upgrades. This
setup should pull in 4 ice cubes (white glaze) very 393.75 seconds thats 36 ice cubes in a hour which after perfect refine is ú110,800.00 (worth of ice fuel).
Which comes to 3,988,800.00 isk per hour.
I'll work out part two later

 people come to this part of the forum all the time asking for info (it's what froum is for after all). Often some one has work out some thing and put it on the forum or an anther site and it takes very little time to help one another.

with max skills besides exhumer at level 4 (no implants or gang bonus)
mining veldspar in a hulk with three modulated strip miners with 2 crystals and two mining upgrades, 5 T1 drones with ok
comes to about 5,528,391 isk per hour (about 6,228,391 isk with the drones)
Using trit as a baseline for comparing harvesting ice in 1.0 to 0.9 is a good baseline as safe and easy to get.

From my perspective the advantage of mining veld in a hulk is how fast you get building materials. I stripped a high sec belt bare a couple days ago in about 2-3 hrs (all trit, scord, pyrox, and a small amount of kernite) and yielded enough trit, py, and noc for a battleship. Just need more kernite to get the mex and iso and then buy the high ends. That plus the BPC charge and I get a 70-80m ship for about 20m and a few hours of work. This particular character would take weeks to earn that money with missions and would have to mine in low sec or 0.0 to make up the difference in cost from mining to sell.
