For the last couple weeks I've been trying to play EVE and cannot get past the connect button - client just CTD's. I've patched two installs and re-installed from two separate downloads of the client. Every time the response is the same: I start to hear "connecting" and then CTD.
Please, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Mike

Edited by: Anarion on 04/09/2006 03:54:01 I get the exact same problem for what its worth..
latest catalyst, even installed SP 2 for XP.. nothing..
error logs for it in the EVE logs folder, but CCP haven't asked for that yet.. It's all in code, so it makes no sense to me.
Still playing ping pong with CCP over it..

Edited by: JamesTalon on 04/09/2006 15:13:09 I'm the same. Only difference is, I was actually able to get in on one client yestaurday, and the other was messed up. But for some reason over night it changed and now neither work. Reinstalled, cleared cache...Nothing.
EDIT: And it seems even the logserver is crashing on me. EVEBay

I've tried the new build on a fresh install of Windows XP SP2, and still no go. I've also patched two previous installs to build 4561.
2006.09.07 16:31:31STARTUP [3844] 2006.09.07 16:31:45SHUTDOWN [3844]Crashed 0xC0000005, minidump written in F:/CCP/EVE/logs\#crash b4561 2006.09.07 16.31.45.dmp
...and there are several more. My drivers have been updated despite not wanting to update them - they were not the problem. This has been several weeks without access to my accounts which are paid well in advance. Sadly, I am losing respect for CCP - how can they go so totally wrong with this patch? Why does it not work?

Quote: Due to maintenance on our web servers you may experience some connection problems on our websites (www.eve-online.com, myeve.eve-online.com, secure.eve-online.com and ccpgames.com). This should only be short disrutions at a time but may occure over these two days.
You might try clearing your cache too (see sig). _________________________ Corp: www.ravenwarriors.com Cache Clearer |

It is not a cache problem.
"0xC0000005" means an access violation in the software and I'm assuming that error messages from connections are checked for errors (based on the log server output). All CTD's have been of this type - no connection to Tranquility is ever made.
In the log server output the advertisements are not retrieved, but those errors are ignored. I have not played since Aug18 and have spent several hours diagnosing the problem. Communicating with CCP is very lackluster when the client does not even connect.
Of all the online games I play EVE is by far the best and I understand that growth is not always a graceful process. Unfortunately, the problem is beyond me to resolve at this time.
