As near as I can tell the last time a Dev Blog dedicated to bookmarks was release was in May of 2005 (Oveur's Instabookmark Dev Blog ). In that blog Oveur stated that instas were causing unnecessary load on the servers and making people with instas near invulnerable while traveling without any drawbacks. Oveur posed the following question: Originally by: Oveur How can we decrease the invulnerability factor while still keeping some amount of the travel time deacrease and safety of instabookmarks? and concluded with the following: Originally by: Oveur Remember, nothing has been decided yet and as stated in a dev chat, if and when we find something that answers our question we'll do it. Since that time the number of active players and presumably the amount of bookmark usage has dramatically increased and there have been chronic lag and database issues which have been blamed on bookmarks. However, no real solution to these issues has been announced. It has now been 1 year and 3 months since Oveur's instabookmark blog was released and nothing has changed. Naturally one would be forced to assume that the youhave not found something which answers that question, however with 1 year and 3 months worth of time to discuss the issue and countless bookmark whining threads there has to be some worthwhile ideas out there. If there is still an internal discussion going onI believe it is well past time to bring it out into the open and have a real discussion about bookmarks and potential solutions with the community. Furthermore, if you have already decided on a solution that you are waiting to implement the community deserves to know. Like it or not, devs, this game is as much ours as it is yours.signature removed - please email us if you want to find out why (include the URL to it) - Jacques([email protected] )

No, it is actually CCP's game. They own the rights to it whole stock and barrel. You as a player are replaceable. From a revenue perspective, it takes 4 accounts on the china server to make up for your one subscription. Do that math, it is pretty simple to figure out where the effort is being applied. And, I am not saying that in a bad way - from a business perspective it makes perfect sense. Regardless of you or what any of the players think, they the players have absolutely no impact on the game mechanics being changed. This is probaby a result of what I think has been the excessive whining by forum trolls who do not actually play the game. Anyhow, irregardless, not much is being done on any issue that garners a lot of attention. Maybe it is time to shut the forums down as other mmos have done. If 99 out of 100 threads are all negative stating the same issues over and over again, it must be quite annoying to the mods. Maybe they could be redeplyed as GMs to get through the petition queue.

I think that this is a problem. I am a consumer and pay to play this game dropzone, and im adding my name to this on the slight chance that CCP will work on the problem that the admitted and has been taking resources so huge from the server that it crashes. If you want to speak economics in business terms, people will keep playing the game probably, but slowly the old horses of the old will leave over time, but those newly joining wont expand at its current rate. People will eb dissapointed if the lag gets to the poitn its barely worth playing, and i hope we never come to that point. /Sighned

The solution for the bookmark is simple from my point of view. Make all current BMs usless and forbid any copying. Thus everyone starts on an even field and the issue is resolved. Actually when you think about it CCP does not need to move the gates to make the bookmarks usless, just erase the DB with them. Pronlem solved and we all move forward from there. Last night showed just how serious this thing can become. If I have ti choose between having to remake all my instas or being able to play the game with less lag then screw the instas. The reason for the BM wipe? Wells lets be fair here 90% of the players in this game that have large insta lists did not make them, they bought them or where given them. As such they did not earn them and have nothing to lose. The few players that will lose their work I feel for but in the end it makes the game better for everyone. Plus in fairness removing the BMs and making everyone start over with them adds a whole new dynamic to the play. We now need fast frigate pilots to scout out BM locations. Then his teams mates warp to him, move next to him and make thier own BM. Add to this the effect of a unit wanting to control a system working to stop their rivals from making their BMS. While people look at this and see their lose I can see a way to gain game dynamic. For limitless possibilities, you need Infinite Dreams ====================================== Svanh Mickahl CEO, Infinite Dreams

It's the BM copying that adds massive lag yes? I've got a cunning plan ... Keep BMs in game as they are. Sort of. Allow BMs to be USED in the Eve client, but DO NOT allow them to be COPIED in the normal client. Have a seperate mini client that just exists for bookmark filing, sorting and copying. Here's the important bit ... make that client just interact with a SQL server that is not linked to Tranquility, call it Server X. Then roll the incremental changes of Server X's BM tables into Tranquility during downtime each day. That totally removes all BM copying transactions from the Tranquility cluster, lessens the load, and allows the BM system to be kept in place.

But when you stop and think about it what better way to feel encouraged to defend you home region than to prevent hostiles trying to bookmark it. Oh and all vagas should be prevent from using instas . Make them do it the hard way.....hrhr
