i hope that when rigs come into the game, it shows up with a chosen module for the ship, external like.

The textures could be paletized, like in Homeworld. You just need an RGB (24 bits), or if they decide to limit it to a color set, or a single hue (8 bits). Pretty small.
But I think just being allowed to slap your company decal on would be cool enough.

My .01 isks: allow logo, both individual and corporate and race and navy - whatever, all the groups in Eve - limited to something small, two or three colors max, provide a "standard" logo for each race. Allow the CEOs to upload their corp logos and individuals to have their "racial" logo plus a number (8-digits??) for individual touch. Fixed locations, same on every ship in each class; different locations for different ships; larger size logo for the largest ships. Say, something we can see in the UI from 1000 meters (500?) and less range, but not necessarily beyond that range; just a color(s).
Otherwise, nothing. No chartruse, magenta, etc; no color changes, no shape changes, nada. Zero, zip, zilch, nein.

Yes Yes, would be a nice feature, BUT the is no way in hell i would ever support such a thing like this. Just imagin the Lag on the servers. at the end of the day if something is only going to a tad more intresting but is going to kill my pvp exp or lag me out i aint for it. and to be bloody blunt ccp should think about FIXING the game and balance the ship and mods be for even thinking about adding new ships and features, nothing will ever be balanced!!!!
id rather notget jammed in my BS by a ceptor,Then have a tire 3 BS that can still be jammed by a ceptor!

Now that is an incredible idea. Devs do the most important thing: offering players to customize their ships.
Maybe with growing plants like in UO? Could look cool atop a Domi. Or a Carebear deed: once activated your ship turns pink and its shape is transformed into a giant Carebear. Useable each hour for 10 minutes, 1 additional minute for each 10mill skill points of the deed owner. Just to show off.
Some people could make EvE their real home. Hmmmm ....I understand that this is a much needed feature.

CCP have pretty advanced methods of customizing your character, why not give us some half decent tools to customize our ships?
It's good that we can customize our character, but this is made visible only in chats and Show Info's. The real characters are ships, ships are what people see in the world. In any decent MMORPG, your main representation in the game world is customizable.
No taxation without represenation!

it would be nice if you could have your corp's graphic somewhere on your ship. but most ships already look good, so allowing full paint jobs would just make the game look cheap and cheesy.
