I cant see post about this already, but someone has posted a rather pointless slashdot story asking if ingame actions (ie the EIB scam) should be punishable by real life law. Neway Linkage

They *are* punishable by real life law, provided two things;
(1) the stuff you had stolen from you has a real-life value; since EVE assets never belong to you in the first place, the value of ISK is legally zero.
(2) You didn't agree to an environment where such scams are likely to happen; otherwise, it'd be on a par with a boxer filing assault charges against another boxer who hit him during a professional fight.
You get scammed playing EVE, and neither applies, so the police would tell you to bugger off anyway.

Hmm... am I right in my reading of the EULA that if anyone did try to sue him they'd have to do it in Reykjavfk anyway?

That'd be up to his local court to decide. The EULA states that if you wanted to take on CCP over a point of law, you'd have to do it in Iceland, but a non-Icelandic court is quite capable of saying "nuts to that, we're hearing the case here."

Doesn't look like any arguments that haven't already been presented.
The end result of making in-game MMO items have real-world value is that governments will start taxing it, and any in-game actions can be prosecuted under real laws (not just scams, but things that happen normally like killing someone's ship). It would make most MMOs impossible to play for fun.
I don't want MMOs to become like that. The solution is for people to stop taking MMOs so seriously, and realize that they should be having fun.
Though, to be honest, if I had 700 billion isk, I would probably ignore what I said above, convert it all to real-life cash, and dump it all in real-life mutual funds. $100k can go very far after a few years of compounded returns.

Not so; see my point (2) above. If you volunteer to play a non-consensual PvP game, you can't sue because you're a victim of non-consensual PvP.
At least, not under English law, and I'm pretty sure the same law applies in the USA and all Europe; otherwise boxing matches would be impossible to hold, as annoyed losers could have the winners convicted of assault.
