Hi!
With my current skills and fittings (Sisters Core Scanner, Sisters Probes, PPH-0) my sensor strength (based on EFT information) is 79.8.
Still I sometimes, even on High-Sec space, run in the sites which are hard to get 100% even with 0.25 resolution. Sometimes I have to give up and move on because even when I try to re-position my probes better I can't get over 90%.
My question is: What is your sensor strength and do you have ever that kind of problems? Is my sensor strength too low for every site or is it just that my scanning pattern with probes is not good enough. |

How many probes do you have out? With 8 probes, it should only require around 70 to lock any highsec site I believe. Since all probes help in locking, more probes will make stuff lock sooner. |

Ummm, I don't know.....I supposedly have a scan strength of 117 and I couldn't lock down a grav site the other day with 8 probes out. I managed 96% at best. I don't know what the problem is either because this was the first time in months that I haven't been able to lock something down.
And never before have I had to use 8 probes. 5 has always been enough. |

This sounds like a glitch. Skills not applying or phantom sig or something like that. |

Same problem here! Can't seem to get a lock on anything! Also sigs keep disappearing even though they were there a moment ago =/ |

if you didn't properly center your view, properly scrolling around your intended dot is difficult and can easily throw off your scanning. |

I've had sigs disappear before, but I wrote it off to a Radar site that someone has completed and it despawned.

I had a sig disappear on me, then I realized that with the new filters for each type of site (grav, ladar, mag, radar, unknown), by default, none had been selected. When I selected the sig types I was interested in (and the particular sig i was scanning happened to be one of them), the signature reappeared.
So, check the new filters.
EDIT: I have not had a problem as far as scanning a site to 100% signal strength. |

Hmm...I thought five is max what is needed. So far used only five. Have to buy new probes then if that helps. Thanks for the tip. |

Checked this filtering thing but does it really filtering out for example unknown sites on first scan or only when those are over 25% so those can be identified? It sounds a little too easy if it do filtering before I even scan those to 25%...
So far I haven't used those filters. I have default All -filter active currently.

You will be able to tell if it's the worthless filter.
When you get to 25% strength the sig will vanish from both the system map and the scan result window, assuming it matches your filter settings to not be shown.
The problem however is that once you lose 25% on the sig that got filtered it will show up again on the sig list. Since it is no longer a grav (for example) but is now just a 'cosmic sig'.
Make sure all your filter boxes are turned on then you can go about your scanning like nothing happened. IE scanning to 25% r/click ignore the ones you don't want. |

I think this is enough for me to get confirmation that this just happens time to time even with really good sensor strength and skills. And I'm assuming also that you know how to put those probes in a good pattern.
And for me, because my sensor strength is lower, it propably can come even more often. I think I can count 2-3 these kind of sites during a last month.
Just curious though. What kind of skill set, fitting and ship you have to get so high sensor strength?

I also have 117 scan strength - there is absolutely nothing that I can't scan down with 5 probes. I do think that sometime when you login, and you don't login to a station that there is *sometimes* a glitch that doesn't apply your ship modifications. That's just a feeling though. I got no concrete proof. I dock up and undock to resolve it.
The disappearing is a result of the recent patch - you need to update your filters. They changed the ones around signatures. So once you've got enough strength on a site and it knows the type - it disappears.

Exploration Tengu with 2 Gravity Capacitor rigs......all skills to at least 4 except for whatever one that you need to 5 for deep space probes.

This is what's confusing a lot of players including me at first.
Frankly, the new filtering system just adds confusion, with signatures disappearing and reappearing as soon as you move probes elsewhere. It sucks. totally.
If you're like me, you've given up on what could have been a nice feature, and just gone back to using a filter for all signatures, with a deep space probe to identify sig types.

Also use more than 5 probes. 5 used to be enough, but with the changes to scanning during incarna you need 7 probes to get the same sensor strength. I use a star pattern (4 probes with a 5th in middel and 1 above and 1 below it) |

I believe we now (Crucible expansion) have T2 Core and Expanded Probe Launchers, which will have the same bonus as the Sisters' ones, with higher fitting reqs, but a much cheaper price (hopefully). |
