I can no longer play Eve without relaunching every freacking 10 minutes? It doesn't matter where I am in space or what I do, after a random period of time my fps drops to below 10. So really, what the f have you changed with dragon patch? Yes, it happens on 2 different comps, they could run 3 Eve sessions very smoothly before Dragon patch, yes I did reinstall everything on one of them (as in win xp, newest drivers, Eve). Yes, I am aware it's not a general issue but SOMETHING in your freacking code made Eve unplayable on my computers.
PS. I had to vent _______________________________________________

The bpo's in your posession has overrun the critical threshhold to safely run EvE.
Give me one or two and the problem will go away.

Last time I checked a full reinstall of a system does clear any game cache folder _______________________________________________

I appreciate if you are trying to be helpful but YOU ARE NOT if you don't read what I write. 1. What are the chances to corrupt the same freacking thing on two different systems? 2. ISP problems affecting FPS? _______________________________________________

Blame the PC? Whats your setup(s)?
It still runs fine and dandy for me, so it can't be anything tragic server-side.

Do you have a carrier or another ship with lots of different drone types in your bay?
Since about the last patch, on occasions when I undock the carrier I get constant "hickups" in the game, seemingly to framerate (with a pretty godly PC so that's not it) only on the account where the carrier is though and only if the drone groups are visible in the overview.

lmao......as I read the OP, I heard Cartman's voice from southpark....couldn't take it seriously after that. All that was missing was the 'cheesypoofs'.
taking deep breath and wiping tears from my eyes....
Without system specs, you know, hardware and such, as well as applications you recently installed/uninstalled, as well as GFX drivers+card+ all that stuff, do you really expect any kind of an answer that would be worth a nickel?
Heck I'm running dragon under linux and on an xp test hard disk and am seeing no issues with any of the stuff you're complaining about either way. ----- ------------

I find, especially if I have autopilot destinations set, that if i open the map on one client look at escrow or my market transactions on the other, my fps goes stupidly low and i sometimes have to reboot.
Sometimes alt-enter twice works - changing from windowed to fullscreen and back. You might try this.

Many pilots reported repeated connection problems. Not a single one of them thought it would be a good idea to use something like PingPlotter to check where the problem sits.
My ISP had a bad router on saturday and sunday. One call and they changed their routing and replaced it yesterday. --*=*=*--

I'd like to try to help since what you are describing is really limited to only yourself. Or lemme rather say, it doesn't happen to me.
Could you please confirm actual FPS readings? There is a key combo you can press ingame to use the ingame FPS counter. Alternatively, you could use Fraps in non-recording mode and note down on paper what you feel to be your average FPS every minute or so and post it here. I'd like to eliminate lag (inability to load/ session change) from actual drop in FPS.
I don't know if what I'm about to say is even possible, but I'll say it anyways. Could it be that your char has some bad data in the char database that might be causing a memory leak in your client? Not that you can answer the question, but switching chars might confirm that.

I don't have this problem as bad as Khatred, but I can confirm that it exists. Twice at the weekend, my client dropped to below 10 fps (around 4-6 fps) and stayed there. This is on a machine that normally runs two clients at around 80-100 fps. The only thing that will cure the problem is logging. And yes, I did a complete reinstall with the Dragon release.
Thankfully it hasn't happened again, but if it does I'll try to get enough information to bug report it.
Edit: This is with two clients running, and the other client is unaffected. This suggests to me it's a client rather than a machine/OS problem, but who knows?

I play in windowed mode and haven't had such problems since the last patch (2GB RAM, X800XL, 3500+). I guess it must have something to do with your settings if 2 different computers are affected.
Does this happen with 1 active session as well?
FWIW, I use the following non-default options: - trails off - sun is NOT occluded by ships - expand action menu with middle button (i.e. I don't use it) - no dither - use LOD - 24 bit color, 32 bit z-buffer with 8 bit stencil, z-buffer. - interval immediate

I get a similar problem but i'm pretty sure mine is due to lamers copying thousands of BM's at a time. My system drops comes back runs ok drops. But i do get odd stable periods when the systems im in are less busy.
Took me over an hour to get out of rens the other night cause of lag cause by the BM rush.

30k online last nite loads saying it was great they had no lag, but I had to log just couldn't run missions at all "An attempt to active the module....." man it was so bad I just logged out.
Disabling the sound will help and some or all effects, sucks really, trying to play the game but knocking features out just to keep a good frame rate.
Some will blame your computer they may be right but I guess they will be lucky they are in one of the few un-lagged nodes, since RMR for me the game has been slower to log/unlog and many more ctd, the new code (dragon I think ?) doesnĘt seem much better yet, but after the patch we will see.

The Logserver is your friend in these situations. It'll let you see exactly what unpleasantness kicks off when your fps dies. You don't really need to understand everything it says, just look for reds and skulls. My guess is that you'll see lots and lots of red or skull symbols, and a pile of exceptions coming up, probably the same ones in a constant loop.
Save that log, submit it along with a dxdiag in a bugreport (put the two in a zip file to attach), and you'll have given them a good starting point for working out what's breaking. You probably won't get a direct response or an immediate fix, but it'll be more effective than venting ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |
