Hi everyone I have been in 0.1 space in my rifter loaded out with either projectiles and launchers or hybrids and launchers. Mainly backed up with kit to increase shields, cap recharge or afterburners. With this setup I have found Angels upto Impalers/Raiders/ambushers easy going, orbiting at 15km.
Now I am ready to move into a cruiser to look for higher npc's in 0.0 space. I have only flown solo into battle thus far and need recommendations for either Minmatar or Caldari cruisers. Of course I am concerned about having a ship kitted out to handle npc' that would be absolute pants if I ran into a PvP.
Any suggestion most welcome and even if they mean training another races ship skills.

The blackbird has 6 medium slots allowing you to put 2 aside for warp stabilizers incase you are paranoid about pesky PC's.

The BB is not a good npc killing cruiser, it is almost 100% a pvp cruiser. For 0.0 space i would sugest a rupture, because you seem to be minmitar. Or posibly a stabber if you would preffer a little bit of speed of armour.
Either or I would load it out with as many projectiles as you can (4 on both rupture and stabber) and then 2 missles. I belive you can hold a few drones as well.
To be safe i would stick to combat of around 25k+ which should not be difficult to do with 720mm howizters.

I have the same concerns over the blackbird. Although I had been saving for a Moa because I like hybrids. Even on my rifter the 150 rails eat npc's quicker than 280 howitzers both with the odd missile.

Alright well, If your interested in a bit of In Your Face action. And some Drones, you would go for a Gallente Thorax and around 8 Wasp/Berserkers/Praetor/Ogre's Depending on what your flavor of rat is vulnerable to.
I myself incase you do do such a thing would recommend this
3x Anode Electron Partical Cannon's Loaded with AM Medium 2x Modal Electron Accelerator Cannon's Loaded with Uranium Medium
5x Capacitor Power Relays 1x Medium Converse (Looted Shield Booster) 1x Assorted Hardener fit for what damage your flavour of rats deal 1x Assorted Hardener once again for what secondary damage they deal Always keep the Hardener's on Auto Repeat if things get sticky smack in the Medium Converse on auto repeat also
With level 4 in say Energy Management and Operations you should be fine =) + The alloted skills for this setup Etc

Take the moa, is alot easier to use then a rupture. -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

Caracal (caldari missle boat) isn't a bad idea either if your missle skills are trained up.

Stabbers are excellent little cruisers .. same weapons slots as a Moa (though a little less grid to fit them with) and the fastest speed of any cruiser out there .. a bargain price too comparitively :P . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Stabber: 6/3/3 Moa: 6/4/4 More CPU, more grid, more shields, etc.

Moa and rupture are great for killing NPCs, Maller is cool but it can be done in BB also and you don't have to be afraid of PKs. Its all dependant on your style of play. ______

Ya, that's what I was trying to say. BB generally sucks for killing npc's but it got those extra midslots incase you run into mean PK'ers. :)

Go Calidari. You have the Moa for NPCs, and have the skills then for a BB or Caracal in PvP.
OTOH, if you're sticking with Angels space, you'll be getting Angel loot drops and no rail drops, so if you dig yer projectiles, stick to Minmater and go Rupture with a artillery/missile mix load-out.

I Fly a rupture in 0.0 space
have 4 x 650 MM cannons in High slots
MEd slots are : a shield recharger tracking comp an AB or shield hardener
Low slots are :
Power relays ODS tracking and range modules
I take on 2 - 3 20k and 30k Pirates in a batch and come out on top ( with some structural damage) try to take on singles or pairs and keep them at about 7-10km away
or load out with 425mm cannons and shield rechargers and Get real close on singles to rip them apart quick

For first ship npc hunting i recommend vexor
all round good ship
plenty of space for drones
4 turrets for guns, 1 high slot for anti missile smartbomb
most importantly is cheap - around 3mill so when you get blown up you dont miss it

Thx for all the advice I think I will try the Moa as I think it will suit my style of combat. I will probably change to hunting different types of npc's so that I get the appropriate drops for the Moa. If I fancy a change then thorax and drone master is what I would try.
Thx again for the helpful tips Long live the forum

When I had my Rifter, I flew with 250 light artilleries. Better than 150mm railguns.
On cruisers, hybrids are still a more consistent hit weapon with greater rates of fire than projectiles but projectiles still do more damage per hit.
I don't know about Angels, but in 0.0 space near the Amarr regions, you got a lot of NPCs that like to chew out your shields with lasers and EM missiles. Being able to defend yourself against an EM heavy missile and lasers that are strong on EM and thermal damage is a must. Defender missiles and shield hardeners are good things to look for. I got my Moa setup with both if I go far hunting.
