Wtf is it? I know its coming, but whenever I try to look up EXACTLY what it is, the only information I can ever find is when it'll be here (and no offense to CCP, they're hard workers, but we all know that their release dates arn't very reliable ethier).
So can someone ethier explain what to expect in a nutshell or hook it up with a linkage that'll break it down? Thanks!

Faction = A group of people connected by a shared belief or opinion within a larger group.
Warfare = The waging of armed conflict against an enemy.

From what I remember from some earlier blog, factional warfare is planned to be warfare where you fight for your npc faction. I remember something about borders moving around depending on how your faction does in the war etc. Also i think they are planning some specific rewards for it.. you spend loyalty points and can pick between offers. I pray its not like a ladder system... :)
And its coming in Kali 2. I specifically remember the phrase "Factional Warfare - nothing else" in fact, from the blog on it. Kali 2 is scheduled for november in a not so realistic way. :)

I pray that it isn't just a couple more "Human Cattle", "Enemies Abound" type missions...
If it's purely PvE then it will hardly be the great change we've been led to expect.
However if it's not purely PvE I wonder how we'll avoid week old newbs in Destroyers sitting outside newb stations popping day old newbs who've just signed up to "the other side" and month old newbs popping them from cruisers...etc.

According to the article about FW in EON #2, it would be a thing you can choose to be a part of or not. If you choose NOT to participate, you can go on with your everyday EVE life as always. If you DO want to be part of it, you would change your game a LOT.
Imagine the NPCs come to life and they actually start doing real war against their enemies. Like the Caldari going head to head with the Gallente. Fighting in the bordersystems. Some systems changing security status or even owner (like the Gallente conquering a system and removing all caldari forces from that system).
Now imagine joining forces with those NPCs. You being a real Sergeant, Captain or Commander in the Caldari Navy. To get that rank, you need to help out the navy with different stuff. That could be crossing the borders into Gallente space and killing people there, hauling ammo to the frontline or whatever. The more succesful you are, the better rewards you get access to. And a promotion. How about a Caldari Navy Raven for less than current escrow prices?
Basicly just add a whole lot more roleplay to it. Downside to joining FW could be that the opposing faction players could get a mission that says "Gustovness of Broken Cannon has been a pain in our side for too long. Kill him!". Then those players would get a "kill right" on you. So it's not just an extra layer of missioning with roleplay added. It's a combination of PVE and PVP...
BUT. Since that article I seem to recall having read that the whole FW thing got scaled down. A LOT! So exactly how it ends up I don't know. I am not sure CCP knows yet, but I don't really care either. It will get here when it does, no sooner, no later. And I might actually join it, even though I hate PVP and it could very well end up involving just that

/me regrets not buying EON 2... that sounds pretty interesting. But i really hope it involves PVP as well, otherwise I dont think it will be very interesting, for me anyway.

By the sounds of it, you guys arn't quite sure what it's gonna consist of ethier eh'?
I hope it brings everyone in their respective empires closer together though. It'd be great to set aside corp boundries and unite with my fellow Caldari to raze Gallente systems!
However, I hope we're not bound into the empires we were born into. I have an Intaki friend of mine who would very much want to seperate himself from the clutches of the Federation and fight for the independence of his people.

If FW gets implemented somewhat as intended, Gallente FW pilots will be shot at by Caldari sentry guns. And since they hit pretty hard against a cruiser that is not moving, the chance of that happening is extreeeeemly small. But time will tell just how FW turns out...

Maybe as systems change ownerships and such, the security level of border systems could plummet down and we could even have some "no man's land" systems that are 0.0 inbetween empires. No sentry guns, no soveringty, just plain out Imperial warfare.
