Edited by: zorgolox on 06/09/2006 00:32:32 Greetings fellow capsuleers....I have come to a crossroads where I value each of your opinions in helping me to make a final decision...
I no longer have huge blocks of time to play Eve, and as such I am consolidating my holdings and going back to a one account player. I also missed the sense of immersion of just playing one character offered....so what is the question you ask?
Given the following set of characters, each with different specialites and attributes, what would you choose if you knew you would be limited to only 2 hours a night of game time...and might have to take breaks as long as 10 days away from Eve?
*Note - all chars have neglible history, standings and a postive sec status
Option 1: Caldari Male, Excellent Mining skills, Exhumer and Minmatar Transport Ship captain with great leadership skills (for mining mostly Foreman 5 and Director 4) and Gallente/Caldari BS capabilites...average engineering/electronic skills...t2 light/med drone capable...good navigation skills (all lv4's) ---has high Per/Will for future combat skill growth...
Option 2: Caldari Male, Excellent EW/Missile/Engineering/Electronics skills....very focused...almost 13 mill SP in only 65 skills...25 of which are at lv5...can use Caldari Covert/Recon/AF/Ceptor and HAC (in less than a week) T2 Heavy missiles with most support missile skills at lv4-5..also very good navigation...no industrial skills at all...also no BS skills as of yet...all cap/shield skills at lv5 barring the remote transfer and tactical manipulation skills...fairly balanced attributes with a slight edge on Willpower from his racial profile...
Option 3: Amarr Male:

I'd say the first one since it seems more balanced... and you could sell the others for more ISK since they seem to have more SP and specialization in combat

If I were you, I'd play char #3. Flies everything ye might want to fly, and when you have to go away for weeks you can work toward carriers, which is convienient.
Oh, and I'd give me char #2 :P

Hmm...
Number 3 looks like the best but alot of people think Amarr are gimped atm so if you are one of those people you probably won't want it.
Number 2 also looks nice but not as good.
Number 1 just seems useless...

no1 - nope, doesn't seem right , at least from your description
no2 - quite a nice char
no3 - I'd go with him but just because I love amarr.
Both no2 and no3 are good chars which you could make evolve even further on a very good PVP path. Mission running or whatever involves the use of weapons and latest technology. If you want to log on and start mining for 2hours than stick with no1 and sell the other 2.

I run three accounts and also have limited eve game time. Long time away from the game isnt a problem, since you can set longer level 5 skills to train.
If you can afford to pay 3 accounts just keep all three!
An alternative is to transfer one or more of your characters, though of course you will not be able to train them all if you cut down to only one account.

Edited by: SonOTassadar on 06/09/2006 07:10:29 I'd say go with number 2. Get him with a Battleship and a hauler, and bam, you've got the perfect PvE *and* PvP character. Fly your battleship for missions, fly your AF/Inty for PvP. Wolfpack and Capital ships are where Caldari really shine when fighting other players. ----- Griffin -- 100,000 ISK ECM - Multispectral Jammer Is -- 20,000 ISK Standar Missile Launcher Is -- 10,000 ISK War target sobbing over losing a fight in his T2 fitted Battleship -- priceless |

Transfer Character 1 to character 3's account, as character 1's training is about done (as an alt)
Sell character 2.
That way you have a great source of income if needed. --- I'm going through sigs fast these days. |

1) Do you want to spend two hours a day hitting on some rock floating in sapce?
2) Yes nice, but I'm missing something doesn't quite feel right
3) Can fight, solo lvl4 misions and complexes and just seems more intresting all round.
As a long time single character player I would say that with the limited amount of time you have available your most likely best of with a more combat focused char. Who you can also abuse to run some misions or stuff like that. The amount of time available and the interuptions kind of stops you from being in deep in the corp/alliance management side of the game. Mining is not worth it if you can only do it for two hours a day. So then all that is left is combat realy, anything else is just frustrating due to lack of time.
------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |
